25+ Spring Outfit Ideas To Carry You Into Summer

Sharpen your look with these outfit ideas that hint of summer …

The current trend for nipped-in blazers is a smart way to look polished. We love this black style teamed with silk trousers and a Carolyn Bessette-inspired silk headscarf.

Get the mileage out of a trusty blazer with these inspiring spring outfit ideas from Lucy Williams.

Or a blazer with fit-and-flare jeans – a novel alternative to the season’s barrel and baggy shapes – is a good basis for a spring outfit. Team them with a low-maintenance block heel for added polish.

As for jeans, we’re zoning in on true-blue denim teamed with tonal shades. See J Crew’s creative director Olympia Gayot who wears the J Crew x Lee Jeans collaboration with aplomb. (We’re also noting the chic, oversized eyewear, too.)

If you’ve been hunting for the perfect pair of jeans, now’s the time to show them off. We love the idea of teaming denim with a fresh alternative to loafers, such as Derby shoes, plimsole trainers or haute slippers.

When it comes to jeans-and-pretty-top outfits, a boho blouse is a style signature for spring. Recycle one from previous years and update it with fresh accessories. Think: a dark, woven basket bag, a silk scarf or a pair of oval sunglasses.

Contrast white jeans with dark brown leather for a look that’s part vintage-inspired and, in the case of an excellent leather jacket, part rock-and-roll.

On the other end of the spectrum, SS26 is the season of blue trousers that aren’t jeans. See style influencer Monikh in this utilitarian pair of cargos.

We’re not bidding farewell to knits just yet, which is why the idea of a great V-neck style, teamed with minimal accessories, feels very of the moment.

After a winter of slouchy styles and heavy fabrics, the idea of rediscovering one’s waistline is appealing. Spring’s upgraded cardigans and tailored waistcoats – which nip in at the waist, just-so – feel very now.

We like the idea of kick-starting the good weather season with a statement skirt. Gathered, puff-ball styles gained momentum on the catwalk and slip skirts abound once more, but there’s something about the simplicty of a polka dot style that has perennial appeal.

The quickest way to fast-track your look to late spring? A statement white skirt and a cotton poplin top. Warning: you’ll need a trench coat layered on top (and, most likely, an umbrella).

While vintage-look white skirts – replete with broderie anglaise details and eyelets – are trending, we love them most when contrasted with an oversized leather jacket.

We’re seeing white T-shirts and lace-trim skirts everywhere, but this styling – note the point-toe boots and maximalist bangles – feels special.

Make a slinky slip dress an easy-to-wear proposition by teaming it with black ballet flats and a knit draped across your shoulders, in the vein of Dakota Johnson.

Trade up the standard LBD for an LRD – that is, a long red dress. Last summer’s bucolic dresses are being upgraded for sleek column cuts that are inspired by ’90s shapes. See this linen style by British label With Nothing Underneath.

If you needed a nudge to embrace a slick of red lipstick or a colourful print – this might be it. Shop an edit of our favourite dresses to spring forward in here.

Upgrade a simple tank top by adding a corsage. It’s the perfect high-low pairing, especially when teamed with a pair of drawstring trousers.

Reinstate the Breton top. Whether you team it with jeans, or up the ante with capri pants, May is the perfect time to embrace a long-sleeved striped tee.

A double shirt situation – as demonstrated by style influencer Marie von Behrens-Felipe – is a novel take on spring layering which is essential at this time of year.

Taking elevated off-duty to a new level, Jennifer Lawrence translates Sleeper’s chinoiserie-inspired matching set to the streets of New York. Key to the look? Styling it with a structured saddle bag, layered gold chains and elegant flats

Now that we’ve (hopefully?) moved away from heavy coats, embrace the frivolity of a spring jacket. Yes, it’s still an extra layer but the ability to experiment with colour, print and shape make it a frothy proposition. This animal print cover-up, with its textured collar, is an enticing case in point. Shop an edit of our favourite animal print additions here.

The hottest jacket of the moment? It’s chinoiserie-inspired and resembles a boudoir jacket. Look to buzzy designer Conner Ives who has been worn by Kate Moss, Zoë Kravitz, Alexa Chung and Jennifer Lawrence.

A utilitarian tan suede jacket may be an off-duty go-to, but it’s uplifted by swapping out trainers for point-toe heels for sunny days.

For the perfect outfit formula, a crisp trench coat, fail-safe basket bag and a pair of trending boat shoes are a solid look.

Top of our wish-list is a highly-coveted Celine leather buckle belt that nods to our current appetite for offbeat, statement accessories, teamed with a trench coat or double denim.

Is it too soon for a woven bag? Not according to members of the style set who team theirs with pastel tones, lace-trim tops and Chanel loafers

In search of weekend outfit ideas? Ground a diaphanous skirt, or pair of trousers, with a brown suede jacket. While an It bag is optional, we can’t resist the lure of these spring totes.
