16 Decadent Cashmere Buys To Swathe Yourself In Now

Is there anything more decadent than cashmere? Up the ante with these luxe styles from Arket, COS, Lucy Nagle and Ros Duke …

If we must muddle our way through January, wouldn’t it be infinitely better to do so in a decadent knit? Thankfully, there’s a host of cashmere on hand for just that purpose.

At Marks & Spencer, eschew the wool blends for Autograph’s edit of pure cashmere pieces which are well-priced at €100 for a button-through waistcoat, as well as €129 for relaxed-fit knitted polo knits and funnel-necks. Elsewhere on the high street, COS has been shining as a leader in affordable cashmere. In fact, there’s a host of 100 per cent cashmere buys currently sitting on site; from socks, to funnel-necks and, a new favourite, jumpers with inbuilt shawls in optimistic shades of creamy white that hint at brighter days. Meanwhile, Arket currently stocks a great V-neck knitted jumper which we’re coveting, inspired by fashion editor Jo Ellison who wears a rotation of this shape of knit in navy and black with barrel-leg jeans and sharp loafers.

No talk of cashmere would be complete, however, without name-checking just some of the designers we have in Ireland who excel at it. Dalkey-based Ros Duke’s cashmere jumpers are made in the same factory as Loro Piana (I have a foulard made by Duke and I can attest it is simply kitten-soft). Walking a very good line between luxury fabrications and affordability is Lucy Nagle: the designer’s button-up Everyday cardigan in conker brown ticks the below €200 box, coming in at €195. Then there’s Sphere One: the brand self-describes as a purveyor of ‘cerebral’ cashmere – I like to think this moniker describes knits worn by the thinking woman, or the literati.
