‘War’: Sienna Miller’s Wardrobe In New Divorce Thriller Is All About The Hero Jacket
By Sarah Macken
If razor-sharp suiting, fringed coats and cinched-waist blazers are your thing, then Sienna Miller’s outfits in War will appeal …
Unsurprisingly, the moment it was announced that Sienna Miller is starring in War, the new ‘classy-trashy’ divorce thriller that’s just landed on Sky Atlantic, our minds were immediately drawn (sorry) not to the potential of the performances, but to the sartorial eye candy and the wardrobe opportunities.
Of course, Miller making waves with her on-screen wardrobe isn’t exactly unfamiliar terrain. You might recall her turn in the 2022 thriller Anatomy Of A Scandal, a juicy story of adultery set amongst the political upper crust with a quiet luxury costume department to match. Now, in legal drama War, Miller plays the glamorous actress Carla Duval: a woman with a philandering husband (played by Dominic West) and, so far, a penchant for excellent tailoring.
Indeed, with two episodes of the eight-part series already aired, we’re still being drip-fed glimpses into Duval’s wardrobe. But of one thing we’re certain: it’s all about the power jacket.

Early glimpses of Sienna Miller playing Carla Duval show her cutting a figure in a brown pin-striped blazer (pictured, above) teamed with a Diane Keaton-inspired burgundy tie, a sweeping black coat, a Loewe Amazona bag and cowboy boots from & Other Stories. The choice to use a vintage pin-striped Dolce & Gabbana suit from the 1990s was, according to the show’s costume designer Matthew Price, invoked to demonstrate Duval’s eye for fashion. “She’s someone who has a real interest in clothes, so I didn’t want her just wearing the latest collections. We mixed contemporary pieces with vintage and archive, and some of those pieces had a history to them,” Price said recently.

Pictured, above: Sienna Miller, as Carla Duval in Sky Atlantic’s eight-part thriller War, wears a cinched woven blazer from The Frankie Shop.

Equally, another scene sees Miller don a black cinched woven blazer by The Frankie Shop. And an elevator scene (pictured, above) with co-star Dominic West combines a Jean Paul Gaultier suit with a fringed Comme des Garçons coat, accessorised with a Fendi Peekaboo bag – and a Cartier watch, naturally.
While the first two episodes don’t offer oodles of airtime with Miller, or West (a parallel plot line of the show is the war between the rival legal firms that represent Duval and her husband, tech mogul Morgan Henderson), it is a whetting of the appetite for what’s to come. There are still six more episodes – and, undoubtedly, more aspirational fashion – en route, but in the meantime we’ll be researching (and manifesting) vintage ties, investment blazers and, of course, a Cartier Panthère.
