The autumn 2026 Council of Irish Fashion Designers (CIFD) presentation this week left us with plenty to look forward to as we head into the new season …
From Triona’s impeccably cut windowpane check wool coat to Helena Malone’s contemporary, lustrous freshwater pearl necklace with handmade solid silver embellishment, these collections are both of-the-moment and designed to stand the test of time.
There was no shortage of wardrobe classics either, with beautifully made everyday staples from Jennifer Slattery and the Linen Shirt Company, alongside the likes of Miss She’s Got Knits’ fun stripey alpaca knitwear, Helen Hayes’ denim coat and milliner Ailish McElroy’s berry red dramatic take on a trilby. Come winter, we will all be looking for that perfect party dress (or gown) to slip into after dark. Something beautiful, something chic, and something versatile enough to be styled in different ways depending on the accessories. We have our eye on Six Roads’ show-stopping black and cream graphic print opera coat, Ber McNamara’s elegant turquoise asymmetrical-hem skirt with matching blouse, and AndTate’s molten-hued organza ome-shaped skirt. Standún boutique in Spiddal, Co Galway marks its 80th anniversary this month. To celebrate, seven CIFD members (Caroline Duffy, Emily Jean Atelier, Jack Murphy, LANDA, Monessa Joan, Siobhan Daly Designs and Zafur) will create pop up shops instore, with opportunities to meet the designers and makers on Saturday September 12th and a painting demonstration and conversation with designer Caroline Duffy on Saturday September 19th, find tickets here.
