Margot Robbie’s Effortless Look – And Her Chanel 25 Bag – Is Exactly How We Want To Dress Now

We’re coveting Margot Robbie’s look in the Chanel 25 campaign video which features a special appearance from Kylie Minogue …

In Matthieu Blazy’s Métiers d’art 2026 show for Chanel, the designer channelled the everywoman. The latest campaign for the Chanel 25 handbag starring Margot Robbie may not exactly be a nod to the everywoman, but the tone is decidedly casual. The video stars Robbie alongside Kylie Minogue in a reinterpretation of Minogue’s Come Into My World music video (we’re still in shock that it’s 25 years since the original video directed by Michel Gondry was released, but that’s a whole other story). In this refreshed version, Robbie trills around an imagined Parisian neighbourhood meeting different versions of herself, each one toting an iteration of the Chanel 25 bag. There’s classic black and white as well as punchy pink, burgundy and vibrant orange.

Equally as noteworthy is the clothing. Robbie’s style for the campaign, according to Chanel, is both sophisticated and casual. She wears mid-waisted jeans that are a hybrid of baggy and straight, a white tank top and a Chanel tweed jacket; her hair is softly textured, her makeup is minimal. It’s a low-key but polished choice that’s familiar from the Métiers d’art 2026 collection – its first look, which featured a quarter-zip knit and jeans, went viral. There are no overblown fashion statements, rather Robbie reminds of an ‘It’ girl on the front row, or a micro-influencer who might pop up on your discover page. There’s an air of Vanessa Paradis, rather than an A-lister. And while we’re not branding Chanel tweed as attainable, the idea of jeans and a cropped jacket resonates with most of us.

Released in 2025, the Chanel 25 bag nods to Chanel’s preoccupation with numerology while reinventing the house’s classic codes of quilted leather, a leather-interlaced chain, and the double C motif. The hobo shape, particularly in the mini size, is special enough to elevate an every day outfit but also can add zing to an evening look. Additional campaign shots, photographed by Craig McDean, see Robbie wearing a black and white tweed jacket with black jeans, and a white tank top. Maybe it’s simply a testament to the power of Robbie to sell clothing, a renewed love of classic dressing, or the fact that we’re all still preoccupied with luxurious wardrobe staples, but I’m reassessing my wardrobe for great white tees and the perfect pair of heels to team with slouchy jeans.

Robbie isn’t the only Chanel ambassador turning heads. Recently, Matthieu Blazy announced Bhavitha Mandava as a house ambassador for the brand (a student of NYU, she was discovered by chance at a New York subway station). Mandava who is from Hyderabad, India made history as the first Indian model to open a Chanel show and, earlier this year, became the first brown model to star on a solo cover of British Vogue. Her megawatt smile reminds of a 90s supermodel and we’re still coveting her runway look.

The Chanel 25 bag is available from the Chanel boutique at Brown Thomas, Dublin; prices from €5,400.
