From highly-anticipated dystopian series to dark comedy and a ballet drama, add these to your watchlist this month …

Dying For Sex on Disney+
Co-created by Kim Rosenstock who’s behind hit shows including Only Murders In The Building, New Girl and GLOW, this comedy drama has the perfectmix of feel-good, heart-wrenching and thought-provoking moments. The eight-part series follows a woman (played by the majestic Michelle Williams) who, when she’s diagnosed with breast cancer, leaves her husband of 15 years to fully explore her sexuality. Also starring Jenny Slate (It Ends With Us), Rob Delaney (Catastrophe) and Jay Duplass (Pain Hustlers), this series will leave its mark.
Black Mirror, Season 7, on Netflix from April 10
Black Mirror is finally returning and, unsurprisingly, the list of stars in each episode is remarkable. The tech-noir commentary has left us shaken after each and every season, so we expect no less from the latest installment – especially with the rise in Gen Z online nightmares (Adolesence, anyone?) and the advancement in AI.

Chris O’Dowd and Rashida Jones play husband and wife in the first episode, titled “Common People” . When a medical emergency leaves schoolteacher Amanda (Jones) fighting for her life, her desperate husband (O’Dowd) signs her up for Rivermind: a hi-tech system that keeps her alive … of course, at a cost.

Emma Corrin (Princess Diana in The Crown) plays an avatar in a simulation in episode 3, titled “Hotel Reverie”. It tells the story of an A-list actress (Issa Rae from Barbie) thrown into an unusually immersive remake of a vintage romantic movie, who must stick to the script if she ever wants to make it home.
Heavy-hitter Paul Giammetti plays a lonely man re-examining a heartbreaking period of his past with new technology that allows him to step into memories. Sounds like Back To The Future, undoubtedly with dire consequences.
Plus, USS Callister returns in the first-ever sequel episode in the entire series. Cristin Milioti (Palm Springs, The Wolf of Wall Street) has been trapped in the Star Trek style video game since season 4. Watch her navigate the gaming world and if she’s up to the task of being captain!

Your Friends And Neighbours on Apple TV from April 11
Jon Hamm (who we know and love from Mad Men, The Morning Show and Bridesmaids), Amanda Peet and Olivia Munn bounce off each other as – you guessed it – friends and neighbours in this crime dramedy set in a New York suburb. The story follows a hedgefund manager (Hamm) who’s fired in disgrace, so he resorts to stealing from his wealthy neighbours’ homes … only to discover secrets that may be even more sinister than his! It’s being hailed as radically different to anything we’ve seen before, so we’re fittingly intrigued.

The Last Of Us, on NOW TV from April 13
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey return in this Emmy-winning dystopian thriller that terrified us all in the first season. Staying true to the video game that the show’s based on, we pick up five years later, where the characters are in very different places to where we left them in their post-apocalyptic world. We know from interviews that the two weren’t together for a lot of filming (weep); meaning there’ll be a lot more Odyssean adventures trying to get back together again. If you haven’t watched the first season yet, we highly recommend you catch up.

The Glass Dome on Netflix from April 15
A criminologist and her former police chief partner investigate the disappearance of a girl in the small Swedish town where she was once kept captive. If you’re in the mood for an Are Murders–style spook with twists and turns, this series is the one for you.

Étoile on Amazon Prime from April 24
From the producers of cult classic Gilmore Girls, and The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, this eight-episode ballet drama follows two world-renowned dancers in Paris and New York who swap places to save their respective companies. It stars Charlotte Gainsbourg (daughter of Jane Birkin) alongside Luke Kirby (No Man of God) and Broadway star-come-actor Gideon Glick (Maestro). The show must go on!

You, on Netflix from April 24
Penn Badley’s fifth and final season in this psychological thriller sees his end as a stalker who has no issue resorting to murder to keep his secret safe. Along with his wife, played by Charlotte Ritchie (Call the Midwife), the now-rich serial killer returns to New York, but the ghosts of his past come back to haunt him – as does his obsessiveness when he befriends a young woman, played by Medeline Brewer (The Handmaid’s Tale). We can only hope that he finally gets his comeuppance!
