An Interior Design Studio Focused On A Point Of View, Not A Product Range

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH JAQI

Jaqi approaches interiors through curation, restraint and a lived understanding of how spaces should feel …

There’s a difference between a space that looks good, and one that feels right.

In a time where interiors are shaped by an endless stream of inspiration, the role of the designer, or the design store, has quietly shifted. It’s no longer about offering more, but about knowing what belongs.

Jaqi, the Dublin-based interiors studio and retail space, was built on this idea. Not as a conventional product-led retail space, but as a point of view. One shaped by years spent inside clients’ homes, understanding how people actually live, and what allows a space to settle into itself.

That thinking starts with editing. Not everything needs to be included, and often the strength of a room comes from what’s left out. The process is considered, but not rigid. It’s balancing comfort, function, and beauty with an instinct for form, material and tone.

The most successful spaces rarely come from one source. Instead, they are layered. Something older sitting alongside something more contemporary, materials that don’t match exactly but sit well together, contrast that holds attention without tipping into noise. These are not statements, but subtle shifts that allow a room to feel lived-in rather than staged.

At Jaqi, this way of thinking informs everything from client projects through to the retail environment. The Charlemont Square flagship is designed to offer clarity – a calm, intentional alternative to traditional retail spaces – where pieces are presented as part of a whole, rather than in isolation.

This approach is now being extended through a series of considered product edits, set to be introduced across the summer. Each brings together pieces from both renowned and emerging designers and makers like CC-TAPIS, Simone & Marcel and Gubi. They’re chosen not individually, but for how they work together. The focus is on cohesion, but also ease. Combinations that feel resolved, and allow for more intuitive decisions when furnishing a space.

Alongside this, Jaqi will open a second retail space in Kinsealy, Malahide this Summer. Designed with a more residential sensibility, it continues the same curatorial approach. Furniture, lighting and objects arranged to reflect how people live day to day, carried by a precise editorial eye.

Ultimately, the goal is not to define a look, but to create environments that feel considered, personal and easy to live in. Spaces that don’t follow a formula, but instead come together through a quietly gorgeous process of selection and understanding.
