See Inside Architect Natalia Bianchi’s Milanese Home

Architect Natalia Bianchi lets us in to her milanese home of which she says is very representative of her. She strikes a wonderful balance of modernity and cosiness in each room.

Most days, you can find Natalia Bianchi sitting at the round table in her studio, usually with one of her children. “That’s my spot,” she says, “well, when I’m home.” Natalia is an incredibly productive architect, with a list of projects that would intimidate most people, all painstakingly executed. Though she is often travelling for work and away on the weekends, during the week she is at home with her husband, Vittorio Avogadro di Collobiano, and their three children. “My house is representative of myself,” she says. Although she is not often in the kitchen, she makes sure it is well stocked and ready for a party, deeming it “sad” to have dead spaces within her home. Her house is a container for all of the things that she loves. Her eclectic taste is evident, and she does not discriminate between a vase by Gaetano Pesce and a Meissen porcelain set. But throughout each room it is the love of contemporary art that is most apparent, from the Tony Cragg sculpture in the entrance to the Anish Kapoor sculpture above a desk in the living room, a preferred spot of Vittorio’s. Natalia has made space for everyone in their home: her son Christoforo especially loves his bedroom, with its camouflage walls and tricolore door. It is the sign of a true professional, being able to anticipate the needs of others – something in evidence as much in her own home as in the homes of her clients.
