When Sacha Lakic designed the Bubble Sofa and Ottoman, Roche Bobois allowed him the design freedom from which comes true innovation. Lakic followed his instinct to create a standout, beautifully proportioned piece that would appeal to the lighter side of our character. The playful lines of the Bubble sofa evoke a cloud of bubbles, a basket of balloons that you cannot help but want to sink into. While it is fun to look at, the Bubble sofa also has serious presence and style: its rounded, voluptuous shape is curvy and cocooning, embracing the new desire for softness and sensuality.

Inspiration for the innovative design came from the designer’s love of luxury cars with the emphasis on ergonomics and the comfort of the passengers. While the Bubble is soft and plush (a great antidote to the hard lines of a contemporary interior) its development required that a unique fabric be created specially to mould with the Bubble’s complex shape. The Techno 3D fabric can be stretched in three directions with another layer of soft honeycomb wool on top. The Bubble sofa and ottoman pairing is now an iconic model in the Roche Bobois collection and represents the perfect balance between design, innovation, function, and emotion. The manufacturing is done entirely by hand.
