This World Cancer Day on February 4, take note of these treatments and body ranges carefully designed to be suitable for anyone undergoing cancer treatment, or in recovery …
SPECIALISED TREATMENTS
The Skin Studio in Dublin is one of the first places I recommend to anyone seeking a specialist skin consultation and treatment. And what’s remarkable is that this expert studio offers complimentary treatments for those dealing with or healing from cancer. Book in for the 90-minute complimentary treatments with therapist Natalie Larkin, using the most gentle therapeutic techniques. These are designed by Wellness for Cancer to be skin-appropriate for highly sensitive skin. It’s a lovely initiative, and this luxurious, private spot is the perfect place for a bit of TLC. Products used are Biologique Recherche’s gentle yet targeted line, Toleskin, known for its efficacy for sensitised skin. @theskinstudio.ie
“At Real Skin Solutions, we believe in the power of therapeutic touch and holistic wellness,” says Tonya Costello, Managing Director at Real Skin Solutions, the Irish distributors of Biologique Recherche. “We understand the unique needs of cancer patients and survivors, and aim to offer an environment of healing, comfort and renewal, so that they can find time to rest, relax and feel nurtured”. The treatments take place on Fridays in the The Loom, The Coombe in Dublin 8. Contact megan.byrne@realskinsolutions.ie.
GROUND-BREAKING
Peigin Crowley’s wonderful Cork company Ground Wellbeing has always included cancer patients in both its treatments and product range. Ground’s Barróg Rituals are carefully designed for anyone being treated for or recovering from cancer. And they’re available at top-notch hotels around Ireland, from The Shelbourne to Mount Juliet and Sheen Falls in Kerry. @ground_wellbeing
ONE FOR ALL
All VOYA’s spa treatments are suitable for people living with cancer, whether they’re in treatment, post-treatment or in recovery. Through their Cancer Wellness Training Programme, VOYA ensures each of their treatments – including facials, scrubs, wraps, massages and bathing therapies – can be safely adapted, allowing guests to enjoy the full spa experience with care, dignity and indulgence. This means the spa experience is inclusive, via properly trained therapists and treatment adaptations where necessary.
“We believe that, when someone has been touched by cancer, they should be able to have the same deeply relaxing day at the spa as anyone else,” says Mark Walton, co-founder of VOYA. “At a time when people are carrying physical and emotional stress, nurturing touch, comfort and calm matter. The key is education, consultation and adapting with care.” @voyabeauty

SAFE SCENTS
The Lab Co is the first company to be approved by Breast Cancer UK. Its range of home care products includes laundry detergents, fabric conditioners and stain-removing sprays, all with fragrances designed by independent perfumers in Grasse, France. There’s even a dedicated Denim Laundry Mist.
Breast Cancer UK has developed an “A-to-Z Chemicals of Concern” document that identifies known carcinogens, endocrine and hormone disruptors, and harmful substances found in everyday products. The Lab Co has meticulously aligned its product formulations and fragrance oils with this list. Breast Cancer UK says: “The Lab Co has done something quite unique by ensuring that they don’t use anything in their products from our A to Z list. They are leading by example in a sector where we are trying to effect real change to help people limit their exposure to harmful chemicals and thereby reduce their risk of breast cancer.’’ @thelabco_
