THE SCENT
Irish beauty brand Voya released their two first eau de toilettes, Nerolia and Tempest. Originally designed for the first and business class lounges at Emirates, they’re now available for us lesser mortals online, at €66 (50ml). Nerolia is warm and airy with sweet floral notes of honeysuckle, while Tempest is fresh and clean, with bright bergamot and white florals. While they’re designated his and hers, I’d ignore that – in fact, I prefer Tempest of the two, with its uplifting notes and hints of energising sea air. Also check out their Buoyancy Luxury Body Butter (€44) – it feels extremely decadent and silky on the skin (apply while skin is still slightly damp after a bath or shower), and packs in a ton of moisture for winter-worn dry skin. www.voya.ie.

THE SKIN TINT
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser is back with a bang. The original that we all wore throughout the ’90s, loving its light radiant finish, has been revamped in recent years with a new look, more shades and a more robust SPF30 (it used to be 20). Now, there’s a new Natural Dewy option (which also has SPF30). The brand claim longer wear, more skincare ingredients (you’ll see this line on every new foundation launch this year) and buildable coverage, in 20 shades. I prefer the original packaging, not only out of nostalgia, but it was sleeker and cooler. Hopefully, the new version still gives that radiant finish. There’s a mini option too (15ml, €25) which is handy for travel, but clearly a lot more expensive as mini versions generally don’t represent good value for money. Better off with the full-size, 45ml, at €50. www.spacenk.com.

THE NAIL SHADE
Chanel Le Vernis in Artiste, €32, at counters nationwide. A fresh clean marine soft green new in as part of Chanel’s spring beauty collection.

THE HOME SCENT
Carriere Freres room spray. This chic French brand excel in scented candles and diffusers. We’re snapping up this tomato scent, currently reduced at Brown Thomas from €62 to €47.60. I love the smell of tomato plants as it’s nostalgic, but there are other scents, including lavender or orange blossom. The candles are reduced aas well, which is a bonus (to €36.40).

THE FACE EXPERT
I spent a few hours this weekend doing a different job as a face for renowned facialist Agnes Gajewska to demonstrate her massage techniques at one of her renowned Face Yoga workshops. Rather than keep her knowledge to herself, Agnes shares her signature Sculpt Pro Face method and ethos with other therapists. Her techniques are markedly individual, involving very minimal use of product. It’s all in the hands and the facial massage is both firm and invigorating, yet relaxing. Results include noticeably brighter skin and a glow from within. Your face looks and feels uplifted, with tightness and tension released. Agnes always works on one side of the face at a time to show you the difference halfway through. Her care for her clients really sets her apart and it’s clear from her workshop that these treatments are deeply therapeutic. Not just skin deep.
Pro tip: remember to focus on the chest and neck area with your skincare and massage. Also include your ears when you’re applying SPF, especially if you’re wearing a cap. They often get forgotten, but they are a very common place for melanomas.
Agnes’ workshops include techniques from gua sha to cupping as well as face yoga exercises, buccal massage and kinetic tape application. The next session is February 2 at the Sandymount Hotel in Dublin, designed for massage therapists, beauticians and professionals. The rest of us can get on the waiting list at Essentials Clinic on Baggot Street, Dublin 4 (email: info@essentials.ie or call 01 668 3036). Her treatments are always worth the wait, especially if you’re committed to a natural approach.

THE TREAT
Ease your winter skin with the M&S Beauty Wellness Box (€40) that includes a selection of sleep treats from face masks to a masage tool and mini candle. Check out the mulberry silk eye mask too; at €22 it’s better value than similar versions. Don’t miss 20 per cent off selected beauty brands, including Ren and Weleda.
