We have fallen hard for Gucci Westman’s beauty line. It all looks so good and works so beautifully, from the Liquid Super Loaded, a sheer illuminator without sparkle (excellent for adding a soft subtle sheen to the skin) to the Lit Up highlight stick and Bonne Brow pencil, a defining crayon plus spoolie in one. Everything I’ve tried unfailingly delivers natural enhancement, making the most of the skin you have rather than masking it. I can understand why a friend was so upset when she lost her bronzer – the compact cases themselves are so weighty and feel precious – and of course, this is premium beauty that is not cheap to buy.
So the arrival of the make-up artist’s super-matte Lip Suede lipsticks is one to welcome. The idea of suede works well – they definitely have a smooth, textural quality. Westman Atelier mention “Hydro Suede Technology”, featuring hyaluronic acid and kaolin clay, as helping to make the pigment brightly matte but without being drying. And this is certainly the case. There’s a soft scent to the lipstick and the texture is beautiful – really fully pigmented. So many mattes make your lips shrivel in utter thirst and dehydration (when you’re over 40, at least), but these are really elegant to use and to wear (and so smart to feature a mirror in the cap, too).
