Fresh make-up ideas to consider now …
The Brown Thomas AW26 fashion show took place this week, showing dazzling looks from key designers. Aidan Corcoran from the Brown Thomas beauty team talked us through the beauty looks:
“The make-up look was designed with our customer as the inspiration: elegant, refined and confident. Trend-aware but not trend-defined. Autumn/winter 2026 is all about giving layers of definition to the skin and using key features like your eyes and lips to tell a story. Eyeliner is back in a new way. For the show look, we used Victoria Beckham Satin Kajal black eyeliner to sculpt and lift the eye in a way that was impactful but not loud, lifting from the lower lash line up into the corners to give a powerful yet softly feminine edge; gently coaxed into a soft edge but not so soft it became smokey.
“We leaned in heavily to new launches such as YSL Love Nude lip liners, which we used as the full lip look: these incredibly long-lasting formulas don’t need any retouching and were an asset backstage. We just added a balm on top.
“For the autumn/winter season it’s all about giving the skin that “Pilates glow” finish to the skin. We chose Augustinus Bader skincare to help plump and lift the skin for a beautiful base. We went for a soft satin base using NARS Light Reflecting foundation, with radiance across the tops of the cheekbones using MAC new Romance blusher, a gorgeous pink-gold Mineralize formula. We misted the finished look in place with the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Matte Setting Spray.”
Aidan’s Top Tips
Apply your foundation in super thin layers to build coverage but not heaviness.
Allow multiple swipes of your lip liner and eyeliner time to set in the air, as both are designed to set on application. Giving them about 20 seconds to set will help ensure they stay exactly in place for you.
Never overlook your skin’s need for hydration: no matter what your skin type is, the first and most important step is a good skincare routine to help support your base all day long.
