This just in, these brands prove 40-plus skin shouldn’t be an afterthought …
This autumn, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to great make-up that’s designed for more mature skin. And complextion products in particular – skin tints and concealers that can give a bit of coverage and glow where needed, but without drying our skin, feeling heavy or sitting in lines.
We’ve just had the launch of Sarah Creal into Space NK in Ireland – the beauty line aimed specifically at ages 40-plus. Her well-named Face Flex Concealer is the standout, being flexible yet durable enough to do what we need. It’s glamorous, too, in its glass pot with fluted gold lid that reminds us of New York’s Chrysler Building.
Trinny London always caters for a wide audience, and the brand-new Fearless Skin Tint Drops (€55) is explicitly described as “a skin-focused tint designed specifically for 40+ skin”. It’s all about lightweight coverage that takes fine lines, pigmentation and redness into account. We haven’t tried the Drops yet, but love that brands like Trinny are delivering beauty that suits mature skin. There are enough brands chasing the youth market …
Now Haus Labs, the beauty brand founded by Lady Gaga, is set to land here in mid-October – it will be exclusively available at Brown Thomas in Ireland. The brand recently announced French actor Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu – easily the most stylish and fabulous thing about Netflix show Emily in Paris – as the face of its Triclone Skin Tech Concealer, with a fun and playful campaign. Haus Labs is known for its Triclone Skin Tech Foundation (€55) and Concealer (€36), both bestsellers; we know lots of beauty experts and make-up artists who rave about the foundation (which is available in 51 shades) and concealer (31 shades).
It’s a given now that complexion products offer skincare benefits too, and the Haus Labs concealer is a twelve-hour, medium-coverage concealer that’s easy to blend. It’s designed to brighten, hydrate and visibly de-puff the area under the eyes in two weeks, with fermented arnica, BioTech caffeine and more. Available in 31 shades, it’s designed to conceal, correct and brighten.
Other Haus Labs items to try? We love the look of the Amethyst Matte gel eyeliner, a deep purple, and the Glassy Blush Balm Sticks, in twelve shades including bright pink Glassy Pitaya.
Haus Labs is exclusively available at Brown Thomas from mid-October.
