THE GLOSS Editors Share What’s On Their SS26 Moodboards

From subway dressing at Chanel to the Finnish fashion labels to know and a new book on YSL’s Le Smoking, here’s what’s inspiring THE GLOSS editors for the season ahead …

Almada Label.

I’m inspired by beige accessories: anything that resembles Louboutin’s Miss Z Slingina 25 suede slingback pumps and the Jaquemus The Valérie bag in beige croc print with silver hardware (both pictured in the collage, above). In terms of denim, I’d love a pair of Khaite’s dark Farley straight-leg jeans or Toteme’s indigo low-rise straight-leg organic jeans. A brand I have my eye on is Almada, I’m looking forward to seeing what the Finnish label has to offer for spring.

Saint Laurent SS26.

I thought Anthony Vaccarello’s runway show for SS26 at Saint Laurent was one of the best for setting, scenography and shoulder pads! Set at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, with a catwalk decorated with oodles of dreamy white hydrangeas, Vaccarello went full on 1980s Rive Gauche-style with oversized bows, black leather jackets and jewel tone gowns. Apparently, the scent of the house’s Rive Gauche fragrance added to the vibe. I didn’t wear it personally, preferring Cacharel’s equally controversial and spicy LouLou perfume.

While I won’t be wearing Saint Laurent this spring,  I look forward to large pussy bow blouses hitting the high street. For fellow YSL fans, I’m also looking forward to reading The Yves Saint Laurent Revolution: The Story of Le Smoking published on February 5 by Thames & Hudson. This graphic novel retells the studio secrets of Yves Saint Laurent and Betty Catroux’s journey with Le Smoking. And for further inspo, if visiting Marrakech, do check out the new Yves Saint Laurent Onstage exhibition which explores his designs for theatre, ballet and the cinema. I hope to revisit and stay in L’Hotel Marrakech, owned by designer Jasper Conran and decorated with some pieces he acquired from the personal collections of Yves Saint Laurent and Bill Willis, a leading light of Moroccan-style interior design. www.l-hotelmarrakech.com

Chanel Métiers d’art 2026.

I love the modern subway chic of Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel Métiers d’art 2026 collection, especially the sharp tailoring with a lapel accessory (a look worn by many male actors at the Golden Globes last month, including Paul Mescal). From oversized flannel shirts to pinstripe jackets and fedora hats, there were so many ideas in that show. Also, light-wash denims – for me jeans are a key investment, as I wear them endlessly until they fall apart (I currently love Mother barrel jeans and trusty Frame flares). And I‘m still longing for a cream jacket for smart occasions … Oh, and the iconic blue suit which David Bowie wore in the music video for Life On Mars which I saw in real life this month at the David Bowie Archive, at V&A East, London – this is always top of my moodboard, every year. 2026 is a year to find joy in clothes.

My saved folder is filled with vintage and vintage-look jackets. It’s not massively in tune with SS26, however I feel a good jacket is the transitional piece that endures – we all end up wearing one until end of May, so in that sense I feel like it’s quite a practical focus. Top of my list is a Mandarin-style jacket, very trendy now, but also a piece by Connor Ives, the designer who upcycles vintage fur coats into boudoir jackets with magnificent fur trims, as recently spotted on Kate Moss
