The co-founder of fashion brand Rixo, Henrietta Rix’s love for vintage runs deep, as demonstrated by her thoughtful and unique wardrobe finds …
Tales From My Wardrobe, a style series from THE GLOSS community, is a love letter to favourite pieces and hard-earned investment buys that all have a story to tell. These are the pieces we reach for again and again, the hard-earned investment purchases that make us smile with each wear, and the items that supercede mere ‘clothing’ to carry memories and foster emotional connection. From Irish designer Orla Kiely’s print-heavy wardrobe to artist Alison Conneely’s practical but eclectic collection of clothing, this is your chance to take a sneak peek into the most treasured possessions of stylish women and read all of the meaningful stories behind them. Here, Henrietta Rix, co-founder of fashion brand Rixo, shares some of her favourite wardrobe finds.

My favourite thing in my wardrobe right now isn’t an item, it’s a print! We have just released a brand-new animal print, the Sun Leo Tan, which I can’t take off! It comes in a variety of shapes including our iconic Ardith skirt, the Bondi slip dress and the Ester one shoulder ruffle-detail dress. I love dressing them up and down according to the occasion.
The most sentimental item I own is my mum’s old Gucci shearling coat. She got it in the 1990s and I remember being with her when she bought it: I was about nine and moaning to get out of the store on a trip to London. It’s beautiful and still so classic, I wear it most winters.

The most recent thing I bought is a vintage Pucci printed bag that I’ll wear to a friend’s wedding in the south of France this summer. It’s an old 1960s one and I love the size, print, fabric and chain. I couldn’t believe my luck when I found it.
The best bargain in my wardrobe has to be any old charity shop silk blouses. Wales has some brilliant charity shops and prices start from literally 50p.

Some of the biggest investments I’ve made have been antique jewellery pieces. I love something that’s secondhand, has a story behind it, that I can layer it up. I recently bought a gorgeous pendant, that opens up from Lost Owl jewellery.
The purchase that paid for itself in cost-per-wear is definitely my Chanel ballet flats. I wear them daily during my working week and they last for years, so when it comes to cost per wear they are an investment worth splurging on.

The least “fashion” item I own that I wear all the time are my maternity Nike gym leggings … I wear them too much at the weekend and I’m not even pregnant.
My most hard-working accessory is my new woven bag that’s part of a recent collaboration between Rixo and Dragon Diffusion. Although, the accessory I’m lusting after is a classic Hermès Constance bag, either vintage or new. It’s something I would cherish forever.
The piece that has a story to it is our Rixo Evie dress. It’s one of the first dresses we designed over nine years ago and we named it after my first niece. I still have the original 1920s vintage bias cut dress it was developed from and it’s a dress shape that I go back to time and time again.
