The addition of a great faux fur or shearling coat (make it a long-line one) with white jeans is two-fold. Firstly, it means white jeans, which a lot of people assume are just for summer, automatically look winter-appropriate. Secondly, it’s all about the element of surprise. The contrasting fabrics add depth to any outfit and are deliciously unexpected.

Team white jeans and brown suede for an outfit that’s rich on texture. In case you missed it, dark chocolate brown suede is the finish of the moment, whether it’s on utilitarian jackets, luxurious totes or old-money loafers.

Tuck a winter knit into white high-waisted jeans and add a black leather belt. Bonus points if the belt has gold hardware. Add a pair of patent loafers into the mix, too. (Make them the same colour as your leather belt, for a streamlined look.)

Wearing white jeans with cream is a shortcut to looking effortlessly expensive. In fact, it’s not just cream that have that effect. Embrace shades such as oat, ecru, lightest yellow and sand for a tonal look. Speaking of colour, if you’re prone to spilling, switching from white jeans to flecked cream jeans is a lot more forgiving.

When it comes to transeasonal dressing, trench coats and white jeans are a magnetic pairing. Hint at the incoming spring, but dress for the weather we’re having now, by opting for an olive trench coat, with a grey knit slung over your shoulders.
