Summer Loving: Scalp Care For Fine Hair

The Irish haircare line that genuinely transforms fine hair …

We’ve mentioned Eyra haircare before. Founded by renowned Irish hairstylist Aidan Darcy, Eyra launched earlier this year with three shampoo and conditioner duos designed around hair density: fine, medium and thick. I liked Eyra immediately, for its luxurious feel, vegan, silicon- and paraben-free Italian-made formulas, and this simple but clear approach. “Texture is how your hair looks. Density is how much hair you have. Once you understand that difference, caring for your hair becomes much more intuitive,” says Darcy.

Having used it almost exclusively since its launch, I’ve found that the fine hair shampoo and conditioner duo has a noticeable effect on my hair: it has more volume and is in better condition. When you have fine hair, it can be hard to solve dryness without weighing your hair down and flattening it, but for me this is really working. Yes, it’s more expensive than mainstream haircare, but I feel like it’s worth the investment, and I love the fact it’s an Irish brand. I’m rarely impressed by hair products, so when I find one that works I truly commit.

THE POST-SUMMER HAIR FIX

Aidan Darcy says now is the ideal time to restore balance to both your hair and your scalp, after months of sun exposure, chlorine and heat styling. “People often focus on repairing dry ends after summer, but healthy hair always begins with a healthy scalp,” says Darcy. “Sun exposure, salt water, chlorine, sweat and UV rays don’t just leave hair feeling dry – they can disrupt the scalp’s natural balance too. If you want stronger, shinier hair going into autumn, you have to start at the root.”

Repeated exposure can strip away essential moisture and weaken hair fibres, making strands more prone to breakage, cause colour to fade more quickly, leave hair rough, brittle and lacking shine, and disrupt the scalp’s natural barrier, leading to dryness, irritation or excess oil production, says Darcy.

“Hair that’s been exposed to summer stress needs replenishment, not just styling products to disguise the damage,” says Aidan. “It’s about restoring balance rather than masking the symptoms. The scalp is skin, and after months of sun exposure it deserves the same care as your face.”
