A fresh start gave the winner of Frascati’s Makeover 2023 Competition back her jolly joie de vivre…
Not only has the Frascati Centre in Blackrock, Co Dublin been delivering great shops (and service) to customers for 40 years, it has also recently developed into the most impressive beauty, fitness and wellness hub in South Dublin. These days, alongside busy shoppers and leisurely browsers, you are likely to see a lithe lady fresh from her yoga class at YogaHub or an energetic Duracell bunny running to her training session at F45.
The addition of health and fitness brands to the great Frascati mix of hair and beauty salons and dental and aesthetic clinics, means that visitors to Frascati can achieve top-to-toe, inside-out, healthful, beautiful, and enjoyable time to themselves, whatever their age, fitness level or indeed inclination!
The amazing annual Frascati Makeover competition 2023 delivered a worthy winner whose story, though not particularly remarkable, was so akin to many of our stories. We start out in our 20s being pretty good at looking after ourselves, then little by little, or all of a sudden, life gets in the way!
Eily Hsu from Sandyford in Co Dublin, winner of Frascati’s MO2023, is in her mid-40s. Somewhere on the journey from 30 to 40, she got lost in work and motherhood (with two active, curious kids) and totally caught up in family life. Eily looked after everyone else but forgot to look after herself. A few years ago, she left the corporate world and is now a small business owner of Wonderbubz, which retails clever kit for babies to make parenting easier. Eily made the business transition successfully but in the whole hectic process, lost her mojo. Having lost three stone, she was ready for a complete makeover, with a fresh new look and a smart new wardrobe. She wanted to “find her look” and “feel good from the outside in”. The timing was right and Eily entered the competition.
Frascati received over 1,000 entries and selecting one winner – the task fell to judges broadcaster and menopause advocate Lorraine Keane, stylist Emily O’Donnell and Dolores Cotter of SISU – was a real challenge. Eily was in for a gorgeous surprise when she got the call. Once the news was delivered, she began to experience the full force of a Frascati Makeover.
A full women’s health check at Blackrock Medical Centric Healthcare was followed by a programme of treatments at Peter Mark – a full re-style plus products to use at home; a SISU Shine package with Botox and Profilho treatments; at Shields Dental, a full check-up and follow-up treatments including teeth whitening, and a Sugar Cubed Signature Sugared manicure, pedicure and brow treatment, plus full makeover on the day of her transformation.
On the health and fitness side, Eily received unlimited access to Yogahub Frascati and a F45 training programme tailored specially for her. She also received vouchers for Aldi and M&S so that she could choose fresh, healthy food (and the occasional treat) while enjoying her classes and training programme. The GNC store supported her regime with vitamins, proteins and supplements.
As she began to reap the energy benefits of working out, Eily also benefited from a total wardrobe makeover, with fashion, footwear and accessories from Serena, Pamela Scott, Carl Scarpa and CF Fashion and Vienna Shoes. Bannon Jewellers invited her to select jewellery. Hart Gallery gifted her a painting, destined no doubt for Eily’s bedroom, newly made over by Home Store + More.
If Eliy feels like a new woman, or a healthier, happier version of the old one, Frascati’s job is done. Because Frascati aims to make every customer feel better when she’s leaving, than when she arrived, although we can’t promise that every customer will get the treatment Eily had!
