As reported in THE GLOSS magazine, we’re seeing red – that is: shades of poppy, tomato and vermilion – for summer. And, while the fashion world is no stranger to a pop of chilli red as an old-reliable styling trick, we find ourselves gravitating towards the slightly moodier undertones of poppy which feel more novel – and a dash more luxurious.
For styling inspiration, look to Toteme – its poppy technical trench coat, already replicated at Massimo Dutti, below, is a key piece of the season. What’s interesting is how the look is still quite minimal: the freshest outfits counterbalance any fussiness by opting for neutral tones elsewhere. Both Toteme and Massimo Dutti teamed a trench with white jeans, while the former’s soft suede poppy over-shirt pairs excellently with a black T-shirt. As for accessories, thong sandals or leather flip-flops work best here. Add a long, talismanic necklace as a final flourish.
