And the award for best beauty look goes to …
We love to see the stars’ glam at awards shows (not live, though, we need to be able to fast forward through the boring bits!) and this year did not disappoint, with all of the winning looks channelling old-school Hollywood.Â
First thoughts: if there was a Bafta for best make-up, Saoirse Ronan won it with her glowing skin, strong brow and a stunning red lip, by make-up artist Nina Park. She used Bobbi Brown Luxe Matte lipstick in the well-named Traffic Stopper. Ronan’s sleek knotted bun, by hair legend Sam McKnight, was the perfect balance.
Isabella Rossellini from Conclave was timelessly beautiful as ever with her pixie crop and rose-coloured lip by Lisa Eldridge.
Demi Moore’s make-up was by Sofia Tilbury, featuring Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk Medium lipstick and the new palette of Beautifying Eye Trends in Super Neutral (also worn by Marisa Abela).
Felicity Jones had a flawless but natural look created by Gina Kane, using the Seamless Skin Elevating Tint and Pinpoint Concealer, plus Baume Embrace lip colour in Epanoi by Lisa Eldridge.
At the IFTAS, meanwhile, renowned Irish facialist Agnes Gajewska worked with Bad Sisters’ Sarah Greene and Eva Birthistle to help create glowing skin (Gajewska has performed her signature Sculpt Pro facial on Cate Blanchett in recent months, too).
Limerick’s brilliant Gareth Bromell did hair for stars such as Sharon Horgan and Caitriona Balfe, as well as grooming for Cillian Murphy. At the Baftas, he also created a beautiful sleek smooth updo for Meghann Fahy.
