Uplifting and fresh, take inspiration from the SS22 runways, says style editor AISLINN COFFEY …
Fresh white infuses wardrobes with much-needed optimism and a sense of a clean start for spring. If head-to-toe white feels too bridal, or nurse-like, mix with black or tan, or wear something white – jacket, sweater, shirt – with your very best pair of jeans. In other trends, wide-leg trousers, whether slouchy and loose-fitting or nicely tailored, are enjoying a renaissance, as are suits, of both skirt (think 1960s-style at Dior) and trouser variety. Peek-a-boo cutaways on tops and dresses are also in: think a hint of skin through a cutaway shoulder or back (look to Sylvie Grateau in Netflix’s Emily in Paris). The trend should be approached with an open mind – you don’t necessarily need to reveal actual skin, as a cutaway can still look cool and current with a fine layer underneath.
