Marking OMMA Café’s journey from pop-up to its new permanent home at Planet Beauty Brown Thomas Dublin …
Founded by Ukrainian entrepreneur Nastya in 2023, OMMA prides itself on introducing specialty ceremonial matcha to Ireland as a cultural experience through matcha ceremonies, educational workshops and collaborations with some of Ireland’s leading cafés including Scéal Bakery, Indigo & Cloth, 3fe and Hatch.
Nastya has built close relationships with tea producers across Japan – from Wazuka and Shizuoka to Miyazaki and Yame – sourcing rare matcha and sharing the stories behind each harvest. She spent months living with a Japanese tea family, learning cultivation and preparation first-hand, and trained under tea masters with over 60 years of experience. Read more about her expeditions here.
OMMA’s experience has become well known as unlike anything in Dublin, set within the unexpected setting of a busy beauty store. OMMA specialises in high-grade matcha and tea, with treats that blend authentic Japanese techniques with seasonal Irish ingredients. Limited-edition creations have included a cute sheep-inspired matcha for St Patrick’s Day and Sakura-themed drinks featuring delicate foam art. Since opening, they’ve also launched Ireland’s first matcha and hojicha chocolates in collaboration with award-winning Bon Chocolatiers.
To mark its first birthday, OMMA is inviting the community to celebrate from April 15-20 with a special matcha birthday cake, where visitors can make a wish and blow out a candle, alongside the chance to enter a giveaway to win free daily matcha for a year. A limited-edition birthday matcha pouch featuring OMMA’s loyal customers is also available.
