IN PARTNERSHIP WITH RANGE ROVER
Behind the scenes with the renowned Irish knitwear designer …
Your favourite virtue Integrity, above all. It’s the quiet constant that underpins both life and work, the ability to remain true to one’s values, regardless of circumstance.
Your favourite qualities in a man A sense of quiet confidence, emotional intelligence and a considered approach to life.
Your favourite qualities in a woman Strength of character paired with natural elegance. A woman who is self-assured, intellectually curious and entirely comfortable in her own perspective is endlessly compelling.
Your chief characteristic A deep and enduring respect for craftsmanship. I’m instinctively drawn to detail, process and the discipline required to create something that stands the test of time.
What you appreciate the most in your friends Loyalty and sincerity, but also a shared sensiblity, an unspoken understanding of values, humour and perspective.
Your main fault A tendency towards perfectionism. While it drives a certain standard, it can also mean that I’m slow to consider something truly finished.

Your favourite occupations Designing, of course, but also observing – studying texture, landscape and form. Much of the work happens quietly, long before anything tangible is produced.
Your idea of happiness A life shaped by purpose and intention. To create work that feels meaningful, while maintaining a sense of balance and connection to place, is a very complete form of happiness.
Your idea of misery A life lived without curiosity or without the opportunity to create.
If not yourself, who would you be? I have always believed in the importance of fully inhabiting one’s own path. If not myself, I would hope simply to be someone equally committed to making something of lasting value.
Your current state of mind Focused and reflective, with a quiet sense of ambition. There’s always a balance between looking forward and remaining grounded in the present work.

Your favourite colour and flower Soft, natural tones – ivory, stone, muted grey. Wild Irish heather, for its resilience and connection to the landscape.
Which talent would you most like to possess An instinctive mastery of time – the ability to move effortlessly between ideas, creation and reflection without constraint.
The principal aspect of your personality A disciplined and intuitive approach to both life and work. I trust instinct, but it’s always supported by a strong sense of structure and intent.
Your idea of good taste Understatement, above all. Good taste is not about excess, but about knowing when something is complete – when nothing more needs to be added.
The quality I look for in my surroundings Calm and authenticity. I’m drawn to spaces that feel considered, with a strong sense of materiality and permanence.
The country where I should like to live Ireland. Its landscape, light and cultural heritage continue to inform and ground my work in a way that feels essential.
I look to the road ahead with … A sense of clarity and conviction. There’s an understanding that meaningful work takes time, and that the most enduring results are never rushed. @colinburke_
