All You Need To Know About The New Multipurpose Beauty From Trinny London

Multi-purpose beauty sticks are the way we’re wearing colour right now. Trinny’s new Trinity is the latest. Is it worth investing in?

Trinny London has just launched Trinity, a slim silver double-ended stick with matte pigmented colour on one end, and glowy highlighter on the other. There are three options, with colour combinations ranging from warm brown with rose gold, to a soft rose and golden pink glow.

Make-up sticks are seriously convenient, and pretty foolproof to use, even if you don’t think you’re that adept. Balmy textures are quick to apply in this format – you just swipe a bit on and blend in well. Westman Atelier do a brilliant Lit Up Highlighter that can be used on lips, cheeks and eyes, to add a gorgeous glow that’s not shimmery or sparkly, but just looks healthy.

Boots has just launched a new blush stick, No7 Pro Artist Colour & Glow Lip & Cheek Multi-Stick (€20), while Rhode’s Pocket Blush balms are huge sellers for their ease of use and natural-looking tint. For me, Chanel’s Baume Essentiel is indeed essential – it is one of the few things I always have in my bag. When your skin looks dull and tired, it delivers immediate radiance to the point where people will tell you that you look well.

So what’s the new Trinny stick like?

I’ve been trying Mustique on lips and cheeks (it’s a bit too berry-coloured for eyes, for me), and I’m finding it lasts well without drying out the lips – it has a moisturising finish that’s excellent. The balm highlighter end is great too. These are not cheap at €44 each, but then they are flexible: you can stick with the matte/satin finish or else add on the gloss. And Trinity is a clever name. I can see these being very useful for travelling – so often we’re short of space, but this means we can bring both colour and radiance (NB we’re now even shorter of space than ever since Ryanair is making everyone fit their bag within a new yellow line on their sizer, as Conor Pope has explored in The Irish Times. (We saw a girl being charged €75 for this at the weekend, even though her case fitted in the dreaded metal thing. Beware!).

Anyway, Trinny’s Trinity – neat, nifty and handy to throw in your bag. At counters nationwide.
