4 Fab Festivals to Book This Month – And What to Wear

INSIDER RECOMMENDATIONS: Sheila Morris, curator of the UCD Festival, selects her top four festivals in June  …

Great Conversation: For lovers of great conversation and inspirational talks in a convivial atmosphere, the BORRIS HOUSE FESTIVAL OF WRITING & IDEAS is a must. Speakers this year include Man Booker Prize winner Anne Enright, Lemn Sissay OBE, and Mary Robinson. There are plenty of wonderful food options and glamping available on-site too. Be Inspired: UCD FESTIVAL, now in its seventh year, will be a celebration of culture, science and innovation. This year UCD will welcome over 20,000 visitors to the Belfield campus for over 100 free events. With talks, demonstrations and workshops throughout the day, there’s something for all the family, from virtual reality to 3D printing, as well as space exploration and creative writing masterclasses. June 11; 12-6pm; www.festival.ucd.ie

Deep Thinking: For lovers of literature, deep thinking and debate, you can’t go wrong with the annual DALKEY BOOK FESTIVAL. The event features some of the brightest minds from the worlds of literature, history, politics, journalism, and technology. Author Sally Rooney headlines this year’s festival, which also includes political superstar Fiona Hill, world-famous DJ Annie Mac and a writing workshop with Jan Carson. Garden Party: For those not up for a camping festival, one of Ireland’s best-kept secrets, The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre, Naul, is hosting its annual GARDEN PARTY. This takes the form of a series of outdoor summer concerts in the picturesque North County Dublin village. It’s a unique opportunity to experience intimate concerts with some of Ireland’s best-loved music and comedy acts, including The Stunning, The Lost Brothers and comedian David O’Doherty. Various dates in June; see www.tseac.ie

Whether you’re headed to Sea Sessions (Donegal, June 17–19), Body & Soul (Westmeath, June 17–19), or All Together Now (Waterford, July 29–31), you’re going to need a festival outfit fit for 2022. There’s no need to buy into the entire look; just select one or two key pieces, like a fun pair of cowboy boots or a festival-friendly maxi (keep the print artisanal-cool instead of floral). Invest in one of this season’s must-have accessories like the designer bucket hat, to mix and match with your existing wardrobe. Shop the look below.

Ecru Jin cotton/linen embroidered skirt, Maje, €275, at Brown Thomas.

Silver leather cowboy boots, €119, at Zara.

Rust paisley-print jumpsuit, €49.99, at Mango.

Orange stripe raffia bucket hat, €620; www.prada.com.
