Scarf dresses, statement shorts, conversational accessories; these stylish New Yorkers will leave you feeling flush with summer dressing ideas …

“There’s something very ‘found’ about a scarf dress, and the fabric is incredibly luxe and light, like you’re already two days into vacation,” says Brooklyn style influencer Courtney Grow @courtneygrow. If recent looks on Instagram are anything to go by then a Pucci-inspired scarf dress (this one is by Dôen) that speaks to Euro Summer dressing is what every cool girl is coveting to sip sidewalk spritzes. Jealous, us?

Cooling whites are felicitous when buying flowers at Chelsea Market. Just add a woven leather bag to finish.

When the mercury rises, New Yorkers don cooling co-ords, even for eveningwear. We love the combination of a crisp shirt (this one is by With Nothing Underneath, get it at Brown Thomas) with a classic Gucci horsebit patent leather heel.
Speaking of the aforementioned Euro Summer dressing, we also love Grow’s take on beach outfiting which features a striking swimsuit (worn as a top) and a pair of excellent Soeur Paris white cotton trousers (we found a similar pair here).
Note to self: cream silk trousers, a perfect striped top and eclectic summer jewellery are always a classic summer style combination.
If the fashion in And Just Like That has left you less than inspired (us too), never fear as Leandra Medine Cohen’s outfits are more than a little Carrie Bradshaw-coded. Think: corsages, micro-lengths, parachute pants, bodysuits, conversational accessories and a lot of midriff baring.
Give your summer denim a lift by trying a pair of red jeans.
The key styling piece of the summer? A pair of frothy summer shorts. From voluminous polka-dot bloomers to lace-trim silk shorts that are lingerie-as-daywear, it’s the number one item for grounding your look in the now.
Styling tip: stripes on stripes is never an ill-judged dressing decision.
