It’s all about contrast: wear a pair of lingerie-inspired lace-trim shorts with a simple crew-neck sweater or barn jacket. The clash of boudouir-meets-workwear will look edgy and interesting.
Look to brands like Australian label Posse (get it at Brown Thomas) which specialises in cotton bloomer shorts with bubble hems and nostalgic California brand Dôen (pictured above). On the high street, check out Kate Moss’s festival collaboration with Zara.
As for footwear? Keep it classic. A pair of nightie shorts is tempered by the addition of classic ballet flats that exude polish.
