Where To Dine Outdoors This Weekend

Take advantage of the al fresco dining weather while it lasts …

The InterContinental, Dublin 4

Dublin’s Intercontinental Hotel is an oasis and the stunning Garden Terrace is Dublin’s best kept outdoor dining secret. The stunningly verdant gardens extend to two acres and wrap around the equally mesmerising patio where an array of dishes can be enjoyed under the sun. Burgers, crayfish rolls, steaks and risotto makes the menu an easy sell. And to drink? Champagne, of course. @intercondublin

Asador, Dublin 4

Asador on Haddington Road is something of a dark horse. Alas, I’m a sucker for anything cooked over fire and the menu is a barbecue enthusiast’s dream, without the charcoal perfume. All of the meats and seafood are cooked over fires of oak, apple and hickory woods and, to be honest, the choices are slightly overwhelming. Should it be the halibut steak with Basque peppers, the 12oz Delmonico steak or the fire-roasted chicken? At least I know my evening starts with a berry Gimlet. @asador_restaurant.

l’Gueuleton, Dublin 2

On Dublin’s Fade Street, the terrace at l’Gueuleton provides the ideal city centre pew for people watching. The French style red and white striped awning protects you from the sun or rain, while the menu that includes pan-fried hake with shaved fennel, lemon and sauce vierge is a must-visit, in my book. My drink of choice? It has to be a Rossini. @lgueuleton.

Deane’s at Queens, Belfast

Belfast restaurant impresario, Michael Deane’s is the perfect spot on a sunny day with its modern European cuisine and a cosy terrace overlooking Methodist College where actor Jamie Dornan went to school. Start with a dark and stormy then finish with chocolate truffle, raspberry ruffle, hazelnut and sorbet. With Portavogie crab, and salt and chilli squid in between. @deanesatqueensbt9
