Invest In You: The Power Of Financial Thinking

THE GLOSS | Goodbody Investment Club is helping women make more intentional financial decisions, one decade at a time …

When THE GLOSS | Goodbody launched Make Every Decade Count earlier this year, the ambition was simple: to help women think about their financial lives in a more personal and practical way. Not as one fixed plan. Not as a single retirement goal. But as a series of 10-year chapters, each shaped by different priorities, responsibilities, opportunities and turning points.

The Invest in You hub has been designed to support women on this journey, with financial education, expert insight and stories of women who are shaping their futures. Every decade brings a different financial landscape.

Since launching Make Every Decade Count, one thing has become clear: financial decade thinking resonates because it reflects real life. Through THE GLOSS | Goodbody Investment Club, women have engaged with practical, expert-led content on the moments and decisions that shape each stage, from building confidence in your twenties and thirties to navigating more complex financial realities in your forties and fifties.

Some of the strongest engagement has been around the very real, often under-discussed moments that can reshape a woman’s financial life: rebuilding financially after separation, understanding inheritance, taking control of share incentives, planning for retirement, protecting wealth and making more intentional choices for the future.

So far this year, we have brought almost 150 women together to hear from Goodbody wealth experts and guest speakers on financial wellbeing across the decades. The conversations showed just how much appetite there is for advice that reflects women’s real lives: careers that evolve, families that change, wealth that may be created, inherited or rebuilt, and ambitions that continue to shift with age.

Every decade brings a different financial landscape. Here’s how your approach might evolve as you do:

YOUR 20S: BUILD FOUNDATIONS This is a decade of exploration, independence and early decisions. Focus on building financial literacy, starting to invest and developing pension habits that support long-term stability.

YOUR 30S: GAIN MOMENTUM In this decade careers accelerate, priorities sharpen and responsibilities often grow, from relationships and families to buying your first home. It is a time to align your investments with rising income, get structurally organised and consider how future life plans, whether that includes children or other personal goals, may shape your financial future. With mortgages, childcare costs or career breaks in the mix, finances may feel stretched, so adjusting your investment strategy without guilt becomes essential.

YOUR 40S: NAVIGATE TRANSITION Greater confidence and clarity often meet shifting realities in your forties, from career pivots and leadership roles to separation, divorce, inheritance or family pressures. This is the decade to be intentional: protect your assets, create or update wills, reassess your risk and rebuild momentum as life evolves.

YOUR 50S: REDEFINE YOUR PRIORITIES In your fifties, values sharpen and life can reshape again, with older children, changing relationships, renewed health priorities or personal ambitions often in the mix. Consider retirement planning, succession if you are a business owner, sustainable investing and philanthropy. If unexpected changes arise, build a strategy that reflects where you are now, not where you expected to be.

YOUR 60S: REINVENT WITH PURPOSE With perspective and autonomy, this decade is about shaping the future you want. Key areas of focus include retirement income strategy, inheritance planning, intergenerational wealth transfer, transferring wealth abroad, impact investing and philanthropy. If you are navigating evolving family or health dynamics, a long- term plan can provide clarity, comfort and confidence for the decades ahead.

YOUR 70S ONWARDS: SHAPE A LEGACY This is a decade of contribution, clarity and choice. It is time to own the life you have built, with the financial confidence to live generously and intentionally while managing your resources thoughtfully. Priorities may include sustainable drawdown, wealth preservation, continued inheritance planning, gifting while living, transferring wealth abroad and preparing for future care needs. In doing so, you can help ensure your wishes are honoured and your impact continues.

So, whatever your life stage, visit the Invest in You hub, a space curated with the all-female advisory team of Goodbody wealth experts offering practical tools, expert insight and perspective to help women build wealth with intention by decade. The value of financial decade thinking is that it reflects real life: its milestones, its transitions and its unexpected turns. It gives women a framework to plan with confidence, adapt with clarity and continue building wealth in a way that feels personal and purposeful. Whatever decade you are in, the next chapter starts with the choices you make now. Make it count.
