These Are Our Favourite Autumn Kitchen Additions

The October cold snap has come again, days are getting shorter and we are back in our woollen jumpers. We are ready to autumn-ise our kitchens and make these darker, cold evenings cosier inside …

TEXTURED FURNITURE

Rattan, wooden or wood-grain additions will help bring the feeling of nature in and add to the autumnal feeling of the room. Once the feeling of nature is brought in – it is as if the kitchen is connected to the garden. Displaying plants and foliage also helps to create this cosy autumnal feeling. www.rhatiganandhick.ie

PLANTS AND POTS

A terracotta pot with seasonal leaves that sits on the counter creates a sense of warmth in the space. When you can visually see what season it is through the produce in your home – it makes the space feel grounded and cosy. Brass accents also really come into their own this time of year. www.porterandjones.com

A RUG

A rug will bring the whole space together and any addition of texture at autumn-time will make the kitchen feel warmer. A rattan runner rug won’t obstruct the main body of the kitchen and will also (conveniently) protect your flooring. www.devolkitchens.co.uk

A TABLE CLOTH

A tablecloth will effortlessly elevate your dining space, and make it feel ready for autumn. Keep it there for the week and see how it helps the whole space feel cosier. A patterned tablecloth, with an autumnal colour palette makes it all the more perfect and once you add some foliage and tall candles at night time – you are good to go. www.neptune.com

LAYERED LIGHTING

Lighting is key to making a cosy space. The evenings are getting darker, faster and creating that cosy ambiance is key for nights spent cooking and eating together as a family. Warm, low hanging pendant lights will look great over a kitchen island, or table-top lamps work well on a counter. www.devolkitchens.co.uk

A CURATED COLOUR PALETTE

Autumn invites a kaleidoscope of deep, warm, cosy and inviting colours for kitchens. The colour palette we’re loving for the new season includes deep aubergine, burgundy, dark green, daring navy, paired with rustic finishes and brass accents. Instant warmth and comfort come through the colours selected in this kitchen. Warm neutrals are also seriously effective in making a space feel cosy and autumnal. Beige is good, as is cashmere, or you can opt for something in the terracotta-shade-palette. www.littlegreene.us

WOOD FINISHES

A wood finish at this time of year just oozes warmth. We love the adornment of the brass accents on this O’Connors of Drumleck kitchen – wood and brass is the perfect combination.  @oconnorsofdrumleck

INCORPORATE A COFFEE MACHINE

On these darker mornings, it’s getting harder to roll out of bed to grab a coffee to go. A Siemens fully automatic coffee machine in the EQ900 Stainless steel model provides you with the coffee shop experience, but from the comfort of your own home. This model has an integrated milk system with a container, a cup heater (snazzy), two bean containers to grind up your favourite coffee beans, and the types of coffees you can make are endless. Be it a cappuccino, flat white, latte, macchiato and a white americano, whatever your order – you can make it at home. www.siemens-home.bsh-group.com
