Now the weather has turned, cosy up in an on-trend cardi …
Shortly after Katie Holmes wore her cropped cashmere cardi over a matching bralet top (aka Khaite’s ‘bradigan’), cardigans were everywhere. The cardigan, once the preserve of Queen Elizabeth II, Agnes Brown and dowdy grannies, is officially the knit of the season; designers across the board offered button-through styles on the SS20 runways, we also spotted plenty at the key AW20 shows. The simple button-up sweater is the cover up of choice, think neutral or pastel-hues, puffed sleeves, embellished buttons, worn with jeans or over a dress. On the high street, expect ice-cream shades worn off-the-shoulder. Upmarket, investment buy renditions are more minimalistic in neutral shades (pair with trousers, a great tee and loafers). Remember, a cardigan is a great wardrobe staple to dress an outfit up or down; partially buttoned up by day or draped over your shoulders at night.
