We all love a good wedding but finding a dress that is appropriate for a church ceremony, comfortable enough to sit through dinner and speeches in, that also works for dancing all night can sometimes feel like mission impossible. When you finally do find a dress that works, you may only ever get to wear it once. We are switching up our style this wedding season and opting for long-sleeved dresses that are anything but frumpy.
This season’s collection of minimalist silk dresses and floaty bohemian numbers have us convinced that long sleeves are the way forward when attending any big day. There is no need to worry about wearing a jacket and best of all long-sleeved dresses can be re-worn for less formal occasions far more easily than a sleeveless or strapless number can.
There are a couple of important factors to consider when shopping for a long-sleeved wedding guest dress. The main concern that people have is that it will be too hot once the party starts, but going for a loose sleeve whether it be batwing or flared in a light or natural fabric, means it will still feel airy and keep you cool. When it comes to patterns, choose a style that is cinched in at the waist to avoid looking swamped in material. On the other hand, if you are looking for a free-flowing option, silk or satin in a block colour always looks elegant and feels comfortable.

Golden long sleeve dress, €149.00, at Massimo Dutti.
This kimono style wrap dress from Massimo Dutti is one of our favourite options when wearing a long-sleeve. The golden colour works for both winter and summer weddings and the viscose satin fabric and wide sleeves make it breathable. Best of all, the removable belt means it can be dressed down and reworn with sandals for an elevated summer look.
