Wedding guest dressing – what’s new this season? As always, a fail-safe look is a floral dress – right now the print leans into romantic ruffles and nods to the natural with statement prints in linen. Equally, a bold shape is always going to make a statement. We’ve noted a relaxing of the ultra large, puff-sleeve shoulders that have become a go-to for wedding guest dressing over the last few years. This season, they have slouched slightly, embracing stylish pleats. Equally, knotted details on the neckline and waistline create flattering silhouettes. There is quite a fuss around the waistline in general, actually, with ruching and shirring popular at brands like Sir the Label, Kitri and Khaite. The slip dress remains a favourite way to nod to 1990s minimalism, however if slinky straps aren’t your thing (we hear you), there are long-sleeved silk and satin iterations which are infinitely more bra-friendly. At the high end of the scale, look to brands like Tove and on the high street Mango’s collaboration with Victoria Beckham has more than one slip dress.
