Sumptuous tan leather jackets, directional harem pants, woven leather bags and minimalist black sandals …
Massimo Dutti is always on our radar for elevated wardrobe essentials. Now, hot on the tails of a 1990s’ edit inspired by hit show Love Story, the high street brand has dropped its Limited Edition collection, which also nods to minimalist fashion, described as “a considered exploration” with a “distinctly understated aesthetic”. So far, so Carolyn Bessette.
At the heart of the collection is a focus on craftsmanship, reflected in the choice of fabrics: leather and suede feature predominantly, as well as linen and silk. The price-point reflects this too. One hero piece is a tan suede collarless jacket, which looks especially appealing when teamed with long white tailored shorts, for €400.
Others include, naturally, a simple trench coat and a nappa leather short jacket that, no doubt, will be popular. The silhouette in terms of skirts is fluid and flared – one linen midi is given a jolt of life when styled with a red knit tied around the waist. As for trousers, the harem pant returns for SS26. Love or hate this divisive trousers shape, the brand proffers it as a solution to summer-in-the-city dressing in a shade of russet, teamed with boho sandals.
Amongst all of the clean lines, the accessories add texture. Noteworthy are the belts with wooden beading and the long, horseshoe necklaces. A fossil texture XL bangle is a striking addition. Of course, there are woven bags aplenty with a roomy size, also priced at €400.
