Fundrum at Dundrum Town Centre is back! The fun family festival runs from July 14 to 19 …
It’s a lovely feeling when the school holidays arrive and the kids can finally hang up their schoolbags and fold their uniforms away – of course, that’s you doing the hanging and the folding! But next comes the question of how to keep everyone amused, from the time Mr Sun gets his hat on (ie dawn, yawn) to bedtime, which seems to get later and later as the weeks go by.
The solution? Take them to Fundrum Family Festival in association with FM104, at Dundrum Town Centre in Dublin 16, THE best family festival, which runs from July 14 to 19, and is completely packed with fun and fantastic activities for the under-11s. Six days of action-packed schedules means there are plenty of reasons to visit Fundrum once, twice, or even more while it’s on – and best of all, everything is free!
All the action takes place from 10am-5pm each day at Pembroke Square, where a cool stretch tent provides shelter from sun and rain, as you take part in a Family Yoga class, visit the Seahorse Aquarium with brilliant host Kealan Doyle, bust some moves at the Bubble Disco or a Hip Hop class and play Giant Jenga and Connect Four. Face painting? Check? And to wind them down? A Mindfulness For Kids Workshop on Monday 17 – let’s see how long they can keep those eyes shut for! On Tuesday 18, for little ones with autism, called SENSEable Tots – see www.senseabletots.ie for more – is a wonderful addition to the schedule. The incredible line-up of live events includes the Dino Live Experience. Pet a raptor? Sure, why not?
You don’t have to pre-book any of the events but do check out the schedule to ensure you don’t miss popular pop-ups like Seahorse Aquarium and Dino Live.
Plus Fundrum partners FM104 will do their Weekend Broadcast at Town Square and their street teams will be giving out spot prizes.
Fundrum’s friends at neighbouring Airfield urban farm are staging the final event of the Festival on Wednesday 19, from 2-4.30pm. They are bringing a piece of the World of Soil exhibition to Pembroke Square for a hands-on pop-up where kids can learn the importance of soil, plant some seeds and take a piece of Airfield home with them.
Make it a day out at Dundrum Town Centre. Check out the Fundrum schedule on www.dundrum.ie and social channels, and plan your day around activities. Have coffee and a pastry, lunch, an ice cream, have dinner … from the super-casual food trucks to Milano, Jamie’s Italian, and more, there are so many nice ways to while away the day. Catch a movie – all funned out, the little ones will sit quietly (and so can you!)
Remember, Fundrum at Dundrum takes place from 10am to 5pm each day from July 14 to 19. It is free to attend and you do not have to pre-book tickets. Suitable for children of all ages up to 11.
Stay tuned for more details on all things Fundrum across Dundrum’s social channels and on www.dundrum.ie next week.
