Simon Porte Jacquemus has never shied away from talking about his family. The French designer, who is arguably the darling of the Paris fashion scene, lost his mother at a young age and has been vocal about how she has inspired his creations. Porte’s a family-friendly kind of guy whose Instagram feed is filled with passport pictures of him and his beloved dog (just for fun) or an engagement snap with partner Marco Maestri “I said yes”.

But this week when the designer posted a throwback to a shoot he did with his grandmother, Liline, during lockdown he found quite the sweet spot. A slew of comments – and likes – flooded in. One of the first to demonstrate her love for the shoot was none other than Naomi Campbell who posted some love heart emojis, followed swiftly by French music producer and Chanel ambassador Caroline de Maigret, as well as US supermodel Ashley Graham.

The photos themselves are a delight. Eye-searing shades of fuschia, a sage spaghetti-strap dress, a sleek white suit: Liline wears Jacquemus designs with gusto – and flair. Click through the slides of the Instagram post above to see Liline in action. 

Porte dedicated the post to his grandmother with the caption, “Last year during corona, when I photographed my grand mother, the women of my life [sic].”

Proof there is infinite joy to be found in a pink power suit – and that personal style exceeds any age bracket.
