How to Host a Virtual Supper Club

Virtual supper clubs are on the up. Gather your family and friends or like-minded foodies for dinner over Zoom and eat together at home. Whether you prefer to order in from your favourite neighbourhood restaurant or takeaway or, would rather to do the cooking yourself (international chefs have fast become cooking-show hosts from their own homes: you may be tuning into Jamie Oliver’s new Channel 4 show, Keep Cooking and Carry On, or to the multitude of chefs like Martha Stewart and Eric Matthews of Chapter One sharing their quarantine recipes on Instagram), the entire nation is cooking.

Why not make the most of your stocked pantry and try something new? Triggerfish Cookshop, the award-winning Blackrock shop is offering a delivery service during the coronavirus pandemic. Dubliner Bob Toal’s store specialises in cookware, from De Buyer speciality non-stick pots and beautiful copper pans to stainless steel potato ricers (€55, also makes gnocchi) and Italian pasta machines (€109), “everything you need to make a good meal,” says Toal; www.triggerfishcookshop.ie. The Kitchen Whisk, run by mother and daughter Mary and Kate Masterson, is based in Dublin’s city centre. The duo are posting out orders weekly to avid Irish bakers. Their online store, www.thekitchenwhisk.ie, is easy to navigate and has a great range of bakeware like baking tools, tins and moulds as well as smart serveware like platters and cake stands. Every piece you invest in will serve you well!
