Upgrade your Easter table with a few well-chosen accessories and simple DIY Easter craft ideas that will bring a much-loved homespun touch. Try your hand at making an Easter egg tree using a pretty, flowering cherry blossom branch from the garden. Place in your favourite sturdy vase and add some hand-painted eggs on ribbons. Or, maybe you’d prefer an Easter wreath. For inspiration, check out Dublin-based florist The Crate’s Instagram account, it details their obsession with pretty, slightly-undone wreaths (@thecrateflowers).
Fashion-muse, writer and Vogue.com contributor Alice Naylor-Leyland’s new eponymous tableware business (selling everything you need to recreate her pretty tablescapes; www.alicenaylorleyland.com) take the hassle out of setting the table. Naylor-Leyland recommends using pastels and ginghams for Easter tables, “I often colour match my tables to whatever florists (choose wild flowers or supermarket buys) have in stock,” she says. She loves mixing peonies and dahlias, or combining long foxgloves with shorter tulips or simply daffodils and a daisies. “It’s as simple as tying a coloured ribbon round a napkin or changing your candlesticks from green to pink. I love using coloured water glasses for a colour pop and I particularly like patterned tablecloths (think old chintz and leopard). Ferns, herbs and even lemons make for a magnificent arrangement and not only do they last a long time, they don’t cost a bomb.” Weather permitting, move your table outside if you can.
