Style, seasonal inspiration and stress-free hosting tips were on the menu …
Newbridge Silverware owners William and Monica Doyle welcomed friends to their annual lunch co-hosted by broadcaster, etiquette expert and renowned hotelier Noel Cunningham with Aileen O’Brien. Lorraine Keane, Marietta Doran and Maia Dunphy were among the attendees who enjoyed an afternoon of seasonal style, gift inspiration and nostalgic entertainment by The Bugle Babes.
Guests enjoyed a drink’s reception in the Museum of Style Icons surrounded by iconic garments once owned by Audrey Hepburn, Princess Diana, Madonna, Ava Gardner and Grace Kelly, among others. New additions to the display were pieces worn by Victoria Beckham and Nicole Kidman, while the popular Mary Quant exhibition is still in situ.
Following the reception, guests moved to the newly renovated Silver Restaurant, recently transformed by interior designer Lesley Kelly. The refreshed space, featuring rich green tones, velvet seating and contemporary touches provided the perfect backdrop for a three-course lunch.
Over dessert, Noel Cunningham shared his tips for effortless entertaining, including his infamous KISS motto: Keep It Simple, Stupid! “Christmas is not a time for fussing,” he told guests. “Enjoy the time with friends. Get everyone involved – don’t make everything from scratch! Buy the pudding and the cake. Cook what you can in advance and freeze it, like the gravy or veg. Do a beautiful platter for the starter and let people share it. The reason that we go to family and friends is to enjoy their company, so try not to stress. It’s a time to relax.”
Noel also demonstrated how to create a holiday tablescape, which incorporated his favourite gifting picks from the 2025 Newbridge Silverware range, including mouse-themed cheese picks and an elegant new duck decanter.
Before leaving, guests perused the store and visited the famous ‘Home of Christmas’ – a one-stop shop open seven days a week.
If visiting, make a beeline to the excellent pre-loved section that features gorgeous scarves by Dior, Hermes and Louis Vuitton, as well as jewellery by Pucci and Yves Saint Laurent, all selected by Monica. The range of unique vintage brooches will appeal to those who love Erdem’s aesthetic: our Glossy Gift Guide tip?
