Dive into these new series or films over the long weekend – some can be enjoyed by the whole family, while some certainly cannot …

The Radleys on Now TV

For 15 and over, this isn’t quite a film for the whole family, but it will entertain teens and over! Damien Lewis and Kelly McDonald star in this spooky horror-comedy about a family with a dark secret – spoiler alert – they’re vampires. They can only abstain from their cravings until the bloody truth bubbles to the surfaces and turns their quiet country life upside down. Image via Now TV.

Coming soon to Netflix

Martha on Netflix

In a documentary coming to Netflix on October 30, we will get a complete and candid insight into the twists and turns of Martha Stewart’s life. Celebrated homemaker, America’s first self-made billionaire, close friend to rapper Snoop Dogg – there is so much more to her story. For more than 50 years Stewart has shaped our culture, in both big and small ways, from teaching us all how to fold a fitted sheet to creating an empire. This documentary covers the breadth of her extraordinary life, through intimate and revealing interviews with the icon herself and her inner circle. R.J. Cutler (director of Elton John: Never Too Late, The September Issue), traces her rise from teenage model to her reign as the original influencer. Photograph via Netflix.

Drive Away Dolls on Now TV

A stellar cast stars in this film, including Margaret Qualley, Beanie Felstein, Pedro Pascal and Matt Damon. Set in 1999, the story follows two women on an impromptu road trip, where things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of criminals. Directed by Ethan Coen, it’s full of substance and style with this calibre at the helm. Photograph via Now TV.

Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix

Season 3 of the hit legal drama is on Netflix now and it has hit the ground running, as we have come to expect. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo returns in 10 new episodes, based on The Gods of Guilt, the fifth book in The Lincoln Lawyer series by Michael Connelly. The season finale has left fans shocked, so we recommend binging it all in one sitting to see what happens! Photograph via Netflix.

Woman of The Hour on Netflix

This film is turning into the film of the hour, with Anna Kendrick making her directional debut and starring in this unsual choice for her. Kendrick plays a single woman looking for a match on a 1970s dating show, The Dating Game. She chooses a charming bachelor who hides a deadly secret. This new thriller is based on a true story, so fans of true crime will love it. Trigger warning: the opening scene has viewers shocked, but sets the scene for the eerie tale. Rivals on Disney +

The long-awaited Rivals is on Disney+ now and this limited-series, based on Dame Jilly Cooper’s famous novel, is all anyone can talk about. Colourful and fun, it’s total ’80s escapism, with a nostalgic soundtrack to boot. Starring our very own Victoria Smurfit and Aidan Turner, this is definitely a SCANDALOUS series to binge this weekend. Not one for the whole family, but definitely juicy! Coming soon: Bad Sisters; Season 2 on Apple TV on November 13

Sarah Macken investigates: What do we know so far about the new season? The much anticipated season two hints at a story as twisted and schadenfreude-filled as the first. Following Irish sisters played by Sharon Horgan, Eve Hewson, Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle and Sarah Greene, the new season picks up two years later when past truths resurface and the ladies are thrust back into the spotlight. Suspicions are at an all-time high as the sisters are forced to work out who they can trust. The first trailer has just been released, with the focus switched to Duff’s new husband, played by Owen McDonnell. We can’t wait for this one.

Disclaimer on Apple TV+

This mini-series is not for the faint-hearted. Cate Blanchett plays a celebrated journalist whose work has been built on revealing the transgressions of long-respected institutions, until a mysterious delivery threatens to expose her past. A psychological thriller written by Alfonso Cuarón and also starring Kevin Kline, Sacha Baron Cohen and more. Photograph via Apple TV+

Nobody Wants This on Netflix

One of the most talked about series is Nobody Wants This on Netflix; the one to watch after The Perfect Couple. Starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, the ten-part series follows the story of the unexpected relationship between a rabbi and an outspoken, agnostic podcaster. After the two share an instant connection, the story develops into a romance that twists and turns – like all good romantic comedy storylines should – as the two navigate inter-faith dating; a topic not often explored in TV or film. It is complete easy-watching and the on-screen chemistry between the two transports you into their world. The series was created by Erin Foster, with some definite parallels between her real life and this world she created.

Joan on ITV

Sophie Turner, ’80s fashion, high stakes and a true story is a gripping combination. This six-part true crime series follows the uncompromising Turner from her 20s, when she is a devoted mother trapped in a marriage with a violent criminal. When he goes on the run, she seizes on the opportunity to escape, adopting new identities and finding success as a jewel thief. This stranger-than-fiction story has us at the edge of our seat. Watch the series on ITV or catch up on BBC Player.
