Three beauty launches you need to know now …
1. Chanel
Let’s have a look at some of the standout beauty items that are around for spring, starting with the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Collection. You might know these lipsticks from the beautiful design with the click mechanism that a lot of people have copied, but never bettered in my opinion.
There’s five limited edition colours in this collection of eight, and they’re all really flattering, easy-to-wear shades for spring, like rose petal. The standout shade for me is Rouge Chanel. You might have seen Jessie Buckley wearing this recently. It’s a stunning true red.
The great thing about all of these colours is that you get a really nice blurred lip effect. So, they’re not too harsh. A lot of matte lipsticks can be a bit unforgiving, but these are really soft and hydrating, so they’re easy to wear.
To go with that collection, Chanel has a range of lip liners with a brush and sharpener, all in corresponding tones.
Everyone’s talking about Chanel at the moment as the denim collection sold out in a nanosecond. Apparently, they were really surprised by how popular it was. Even though that’s gone, the Rouge Noir collection is worth a look, from lipstick to eyeliner to brushes. The palette is gorgeous, and there’s a nice slate grey nail varnish to go with it, too. It’s got great colours, a big and generous compact, with eye and cheek shades.
The thing I buy most from this collection is the Balm Essentials, so I’ve always got one of these in my make-up bag. I just love them. There’s a clear one, a rosy one, a bronzy one. The soft petal pink to go with the Rouge Noir collection is quite sheer, but you can just slide it on, and you get a little bit of colour and a little bit of light reflecting, I think they’re so useful.

2. Decléor Paris
To mention on the skincare front is Decléor Paris. You might remember this brand from years gone by, it went quiet for a long time, and now it’s back.
It’s now owned by the original family who ran it, so they really want to return to high quality essential oils. They’ve gone back to their original harvesters and distillers that they worked with. It’s a nice story because their other focus is that they want it to be accessible and affordable.
In the collection, you’ve got everything from toning lotion and cleanser to body milk, but the hero product is the Arromescence, which are like concentrated oil serums.
You basically put three drops into your palm, warm it in your hand and then press on as a first step for a lovely glow. They’re a pleasure to use because everything smells amazing. They’ve got lavender and green mandarin, and they’re all dedicated to different skin concerns. The white magnolia rosy cream is for more mature skin, so it’s beautifully hydrating with nice radiance. A lovely range that’s like one of your classic French pharmacy brands.
3. The Skin Diary
The Skin Diary is a great Irish skincare brand founded by dermatologists, with a lot of research behind it. I came to it through Consultant Dermatologist Dr Rosemary Coleman, who raves about the night cream. That always makes me interested, and I’ve nearly finished my pot.
It’s not just a fluffy, nice thing to put on at night, although it is that, but you wake up with more hydrated, plumped skin. Their day cream works well as a primer. It’s SPF 50, but unlike others it doesn’t make your make-up flake as they’re too thick and heavy. This is gorgeous and I love it as a duo.
