After a successful launch at Róisín’s new gallery to kick off the inaugural Design Week Dublin …
Following Design Week Dublin’s launch at her newly opened gallery at 23 Fitzwilliam Square to celebrate the start of Design Week Dublin (DWD), Róisín Lafferty was once again in the spotlight. Her sold-out Design Talk took place at Anantara The Marker in Grand Canal Dock to a packed auditorium.

On behalf of Jane and Sarah McDonnell, co-founders of DWD, Ciara Doherty warmly welcomed the design-curious crowd before the internationally renowned designer, and architect and broadcaster Amanda Bone commenced the presentation to a backdrop of video and images of Róisín’s stunning work.

Describing her career path, Róisín recalled her immersive experiences as a young interior designer, holding her own among construction teams, engineers, architects and quantity surveyors, learning she said “on the job, from these professions, studying all the time”. She explained how she believed that she could only operate effectively if she knew and understood the processes involved in everyone else’s role on site. On an early site deconstruction, she made it her business to get her hands dirty – literally at ground level, observing the trades and their work. Initially working in partnership with another interior designer, in 2010 Róisín formed her own practice based in Dublin.

Guests were treated to visuals of Róisín’s work, much of it beautiful residential projects, each scheme uniquely different. “How is it possible,” asked Amanda, “that you do not repeat what you have done before?”

Now leading a team of ten designers, Róisín’s practice is based at 23 Fitzwilliam Square in a newly renovated Georgian townhouse that is both HQ and studio, and a fabulous gallery showcasing her own furniture and lighting collections as well as vintage pieces and artworks. She and her team have manifested her longtime ambition to create such a space with this magnificent restoration and renovation. It’s worth a visit alone just to see Róisín’s most recent Sphere collection (and a furniture and lighting collection by designer Bryan O’Sullivan, which is exclusive to the gallery) and to absorb every detail in this exceptional interior.
