Dakota Johnson Endorses This '90s Denim Trend – And So Do We

The denim trend we can get behind? A pair of 90s-inspired high-waisted slim jeans …

It’s almost as if with each day there is a new denim trend achieving break-out star status. From the trending baggy-straight silhouette and general appetite for nostalgic shapes, to the lesser-spotted cropped bootcut jeans, it’s also quite easy to feel lost in all of the newness. However, amidst all of the denim throwbacks fashion is throwing our way, there is one style that constantly gets good feedback: the 90s straight-leg jean. Worn recently by Dakota Johnson on a day out in New York – and styled tastefully with an oversized knit and a mood-enhancing pinch of red – the jeans in question are Agolde’s 90s Pinch Waist jeans.

With a high-rise waist and a straight-leg fit, the Pinch Waist jeans are so-called for their loose shape that channels the ‘mom’ styles of the 1990s (think Rachel Green from Friends) through the mid-line but with a slim-straight leg that’s entirely flattering – and contemporary. Of all the denim trends that span the different eras, this pair feels like the safest best if you find yourself shying away from voluminous barrel legs or wide styles. Johnson, above, wears the long version of the jeans which are perfect for teaming with boots during colder months (we love them paired with a square- or point-toe leather style, as seen below). Equally, we think the regular length would be the perfect foil for ballerinas and a great knit once the weather starts to play ball.
