A beautiful Christmas table, traditional but with a contemporary twist, is what we are aiming for this year. This Christmas we asked Tara O’Connor of The Designed Table to create two special tablescapes, to include delicious festive Butlers Chocolate treats in complementary colours. Tara created two – one gold, one red – layering elements in the most elegant way, so that the finished result is a feast for the eyes as well as, well, a feast! Discover the gold tablescape here. A Golden Celebration
“Gold just adds so much old-style glamour and exuberance to a table. This setting would be perfect for Christmas dinner, but also a fabulous way to ring in the new year.
“For this tablescape, I looked to the 1920s Art Deco movement. I started with a white and gold star tablecloth from my new collection as my base then layered the table with my new rose gold Art Deco-inspired beaded placemats, golden chargers, white and gold cutlery, and a simple white and gold dinner plate topped with a white linen/cotton napkin with a gold embroidered edge from my Christmas 2022 range, hugged by one of my reindeer antler napkin rings for a hint of festive fun.
“Simple glassware and gold and white tapered candles finish the look, beautifully offset by a few accents like the geometric mirrored and leaf side dishes. For the placecards, I chose our new range created in collaboration with Dublin-based calligraphy and engraving artist Calligraphy by Laura in white with gold writing for an elegant finish. Finally, rich eucalyptus foliage adds a cool green to the look.”
