Arnotts X Newbridge Silverware: Visit an Irish Archive of Iconic, Historic Fashion this June

‘Fashion Through the Decades’: Arnotts and Newbridge Silverware launch an in-store exhibition of legendary fashion pieces worn by greatest style icons…

Marilyn, Audrey, Diana, Victoria, Grace… a one-of-a-kind fashion roll-call.

From June 15 until September 4, The Gallery on Second Level at Arnotts will become the ultimate destination for fashion lovers and aficionados to view a curated selection of pieces from Newbridge Silverware’s world-renowned Museum of Style Icons. The showcase includes fashion pieces and artefacts worn by celebrated style icons such as Princess Diana, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Princess Grace, Victoria Beckham and many more.

‘Fashion Through the Decades’ will feature fourteen pieces including Princess Diana’s infamous ‘Revenge Dress’ (1994), Audrey Hepburn’s little black dress from her box office hit Charade (1963) and a show-stopping gown worn by Victoria Beckham at a pre-World Cup party (2006).

Pre-loved and precious…

Lately, pre-loved jewels and jewellery pieces have experienced a surge in popularity – particularly among friends of the earth, and eco-conscious magpies. The Fashion Through the Decades exhibition will also feature a selection of pieces from Newbridge Silverware’s Vintage Pre-Loved Luxe jewellery collection from design houses such as Givenchy, Christian Dior, YSL, Trifari and more. The carefully curated collection includes both vintage and antique pieces sourced by a team of experts.

Brown Thomas Arnotts Head of Innovation & Enterprise, Vena Doyle comments: “We are delighted to welcome our customers to the Fashion Through the Decades exhibition at Arnotts. The curated collection brings to life some of the most iconic outfits from the last 70 years, worn by some of the world’s biggest stars. The experience also showcases Newbridge Silverware’s Pre-Loved Luxe jewellery collection, offering an exciting and sustainable shopping experience for our customers.”

An entirely Irish fashion archive

What is now an impressive collection of iconic clothing and artefacts, began with one little black dress. The concept for the museum began when William Doyle, CEO of Newbridge Silverware acquired the Givenchy dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in the film Charade in an auction at Christie’s in 2006. The acquisition of Audrey Hepburn’s dress caught the attention of Julien’s Auctions, the Beverly Hills-based auction renowned for celebrity memorabilia. Martin J Nolan, Executive Director of Julien’s – hailing originally from County Westmeath – reached out to Newbridge Silverware to propose that an incredible catalogue of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia should go on pre-auction exhibition at Newbridge Silverware’s Showrooms. Such a collection prompted a purpose-built museum and sparked the beginning of the now world renowned Museum of Style Icons.

The ‘Fashion Through the Decades’ exhibition will be located in The Gallery on the Second Level at Arnotts from June 15 to September 4 and entrance is complimentary to all visitors. www.arnotts.ie ; www.visitnewbridgesilverware.com
