Anne Nuding: The Ethereal Dresser Who Loves Simone Rocha And Danish Fashion

Anne Nuding has the kind of ethereal wardrobe most of us can only wish for. She’s also fond of a cult Danish fashion brand, a romantic Simone Rocha dress and an excellent investment accessory (plus, she’s got a healthy collection of vintage gems). When the fashion marketing professional opened up her wardrobe to us, we couldn’t decide which piece we liked best …

Tales From My Wardrobe, a new style series that explores the wardrobes of THE GLOSS community, is a love letter to the pieces we reach for again and again, the hard-earned investment purchases that make us smile with each wear and the items that supercede mere ‘clothing’ to carry memories and foster emotional connection.

Put simply, we can’t get enough of Anne Nuding’s whimsical and fun-loving wardrobe. The fashion marketing professional marries a love of colour with an eye for stand-out pieces. And, whether she’s going romantic in a decadent Simone Rocha dress or nodding to the Y2K trend in an up-and-coming independent designer, her looks always appeal. Here, Anne shares what’s on her wish list, and why she’s traded vintage shop trawling for Instagram shopping …

Nuding’s Baum und Pferdgarten coat is a firm wardrobe favourite.

My favourite piece in my wardrobe right now is the Dory coat by Baum und Pferdgarten. It’s the most beautiful colour that literally cheers me up every time I see it. I love coats in general and I particularly love it when a coat can be an entire outfit – which is definitely true of this one.

Nuding’s array of shirts and jackets are stand-out. The pink gingham blouse is by Barcelona brand La Veste.

I wouldn’t say I’ve made one particular investment in the last while. Rather, I would say I have made an investment in my wardrobe as a whole over the last few years. I’ve never been someone who has dressed for trends but I’m more conscious about what I buy now. I want to consume less and invest in pieces that I’ll keep coming back too.

The most recent thing I purchased is a vintage Emilio Pucci jacket. I bought it to wear at a 90s-themed birthday party; it’s so pretty I’ll definitely wear it all the time.

The most sentimental piece I own is a ring that belonged to my mum, which she gave to me on my 30th birthday. It was bought for her by my dad when I was born and has an emerald stone, my birth stone, to represent me and a diamond to represent her. My mum sadly died last year so it’s even more special and I am so grateful she gave it to me while we were celebrating a happy time in my life.

A pale pink Simone Rocha dress takes pride of place.

When I was younger, I loved a rummage at a flea market, charity shop or car boot sale but I think it’s harder to find quality one-off pieces today. The saturation of fast fashion brands in thrifting spaces has made it so much harder to find something really special, so now I love to use Instagram to discover and support independent brands.

The best bargain I own? I got a Loewe shirt in the Brown Thomas sale back in 2019 … it was something close to 90 per cent off. I love it and wear it all the time, it really feels luxurious but can be dressed down to elevate a casual look.

By far the dream fashion piece I’m lusting after is Balenciaga’s Le Cagole bag in either yellow or green.

Investment pieces by Parisian label Marine Serre are worn on rotation.

There are some items I wear on rotation. My Marine Serre Second Skin Moon Top is one. I love to layer this under a T-shirt or wear it on its own, it’s a really versatile piece and has definitely paid for itself by now in cost-per-wear. My most hard-working accessory is my Saint Laurent Kaia bag. I treated myself to this last year in Brown Thomas after I won an award in work and it’s my go-to bag. I’m rarely without it, I love the size and shape, and how it elevates every outfit I wear it with.

A statement Loewe scarf elevates trans-seasonal dressing.

The least ‘fashion’ thing I own would be my trusty pink slippers. I mainly work from home, so comfort is key! I hate being cold so with the Irish weather I tend to always have a scarf on the go. I have a great grey one by Acne Studios – it’s a brilliant staple that can be paired with anything. I also have a beautiful pink and white Loewe one for when I’m going a bit brighter. Brown Thomas always has a really great range of scarves to shop from.

Nuding’s treasured vintage jacket, found in Paris over a decade ago, is a special piece. It’s paired with her trusty Saint Laurent Kaia bag, that goes everywhere.

I treasure a beautiful cream sequin jacket that I’ve had for 13 years. I picked it up in a vintage store on a trip to Paris. It’s been to every festival and travelled the world with me. We’ve had a lot of of good times together.
