Irish Beauty Brands

The beauty industry is an increasingly saturated and competitive market, but despite being a crowded space some of the standout products currently available come from homegrown Irish brands that have been steadily gathering fans due to their proven results. Irish beauty is having a moment, with local skincare and makeup companies finding success both nationally and internationally. With everything from seaweed infused skincare, hyaluronic serums that mix science with Ayurvedic ingredients or innovative retinol night creams – Irish beauty brands are now the go-to choice for Irish women looking to keep their skin in peak condition. Check out our curated selection of the best Irish beauty brands that have taken up a permanent space on our bathroom shelves.

Pestle and Mortar founder Sonia Desey looked to her Indian heritage and her family’s rich history in natural healing to create her line of skincare remedies that combine modern science with ancient practices. They recently opened their flagship store in Kildare Village which carries the entire line and where the trained staff can help you create a skincare routine catered just for your complexion.

In 1912 the Walton family first opened their seaweed baths, based in Strandhill, Co Sligo. Almost a century later Voya was born on the same principles of organic skincare that fuses wellness with beauty. Their range includes an array of indulgent products to help you relax at home and give your skin a healthy looking glow.

Nunaïa which means “Soul Tribe” began as a journey into self-care and their products were designed to introduce small daily rituals into your skincare routine to get you glowing from within. Founder Nicola Connolly ensured that all of the ingredients were certified cruelty-free and vegan and the line continues to be manufactured in Ireland.

Makeup Artist Suzie O’Neill founded Ayu Cosmetics to work with your skin as opposed to against it, with each product designed to enhance your best features and help you to create a no-makeup-makeup look ideal for everyday wear.

Irish Perfumes

Despite being a niche industry, Ireland’s independent perfumers have managed to bring the romance back into creating scents by focusing more on sourcing high-quality natural and organic ingredients and doing small production runs using artisanal techniques. Located all over Ireland and set amongst some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country, you can also visit these perfumeries to see the work that goes into making them and to gather a full understanding of the process. Whether you are looking to treat yourself or someone else, gifting Irish perfumes not only supports local industry but also makes for a unique take on a classic present.

If you are ever in Co Clare, we can’t recommend enough stopping by The Burren Perfumery to discover how they make everything from their perfumes, soaps, lotions, and candles. In addition to all the gorgeous products, you can also take a wander through their herb garden which includes a culinary herb bed growing delicious scents such as lemon balm, rosemary, and bergamot or a stroll beside the wild meadow. They also have the cutest tea rooms serving herbal tea, lunch and sweet treats. If you can’t make it down to visit, their Wild Rose eau de parfum is our favourite from the collection and is created entirely from natural products (77 per cent of which are organic).

Located in West Cork, on the wild Atlantic coast, Water+Wild scents are inspired by their surroundings and created using only the finest raw and organic ingredients – including locally sourced seaweed, lavender, rosemary and gorse. Their perfumes are created in small batches, similar to wine-making, making each run a limited edition.

If you are looking for a scent to do more than just smell nice, Yogandha’s essential oil roll-ons are designed specifically to help with meditation, mindfulness and relaxation. Each of the oils in their blends have been carefully selected for their aromatic properties. Founder Sinead Duffy describes essential oils such as bergamot and citrus scents as “sunshine in a bottle and the perfume to help lift your mood as well as boosting your immune system”.
