A highlight of the Gallagher RDS Dublin Horse Show is the?Best Dressed Competition on August 6. Formerly known as Ladies Day, the competition has evolved from traditional racing chic to celebrating creativity and Irish design, attracting hundreds of stylish entrants each year.? There’s much to play for – not only the coveted title, but also a cash prize of €10,000, sponsored by Poretti.
“There’s an amazing energy on the Band Lawn from the moment the first entrants arrive, and I love chatting to people about the inspiration behind their outfits,” says MC Laura Woods. “The effort and excitement that go into the day is incredible to witness.”
This year’s judges are fashion designer Aoife McNamara and fashion journalist Bairbre Power. Both enjoy seeing the camaraderie and creativity of the entrants on the day; in fact, many friendships even begin in the queue! Aoife explains; “There’s a real appreciation for craftsmanship, individuality and sustainability, which makes judging both inspiring and challenging.”
A summer preview of inspirational looks showcased the work of Irish milliners Carol Kennelly Millinery and Aoife Harrison Design, alongside dresses from Synan O’Mahony and vintage pieces from ReRuns.
The Best Dressed Runner Up, sponsored by The InterContinental Dublin, will receive a two-night stay at the hotel. Ireland’s Blue Book is sponsoring the prize for the Most Creative Hat, with the winner receiving a?€2,000 voucher towards stays and fine dining experiences in some of Ireland’s most prestigious properties. ?The Irish Heritage & Sustainability Style Award, sponsored by Jack Murphy, offers a €1,500 Jack Murphy voucher to curate a heritage-inspired look.
