Irish abstract artist John Redmond has opened his first solo exhibition at Gormleys …
Former creative director at Brown Thomas, artist John Redmond has been exhibiting for over ten years but two years ago he made the decision to pursue painting full-time. “Lifelines” marks his first solo exhibition with Gormleys on South Frederick Street, Dublin 2. The exhibition is based on Redmond’s artistic life over the past decade, expanding on how quickly time moves on. Turning 50 was a particular milestone for Redmond as he exhibited his work publicly for the first time. Since then, he has had four successful solo exhibitions in Ireland and Spain.
Alongside his craft, Redmond has also launched luxury fashion and lifestyle online store Ecru Studios with his wife, Karen, who was previously head of buying at Brown Thomas. Their precise online edit has quickly created a go-to shopping destination for those in the know.
Influenced by the Abstraction-Création artists based in Paris in the 1930s, Redmond’s abstract art is focused on very precise, geometric paintings, with an expert eye for colour combinations. As Redmond now embarks on the start of a new chapter in turning 60, this exhibition marks his first solo exhibition with Gormleys. The exhibition was opened by Irish fashion designer Louise Kennedy.
The exhibition runs until October 29 at Gormleys, 27 South Frederick Street, Dublin 2; www.gormleys.ie.
